POSSIBLY THE RIBBON CABLE THAT RUNS FROM THE EVF (VIEWFINDER) TO THE MAIN PROCESS BOARD SHOULD SWITCH REFERENCE TO EVF WHEN LCD PANEL MONITOR IS CLOSED REGARDS JOHN
Ha this sounds like you may have accidently pressed the AV button, it has special borders and setting within the camera, these are used for title effects and other tricks, just press the button again a couple of time filming and see if it vanishes.
The heads are dirty and you are getting sufficient digital dropout to cause the blue screen. Try a cleaning tape. If that fails to correct hte problem, then the alignment needs to be checked by an authorized service center.
I have experienced the same problem, which may well have the same cause. A local electronics shop told me parts for Sony are only available direct from Sony - so I guess you and I will have to contact a Sony dealer
