Hi,
To my knowledge, the battery is supposed to last 4-5 hours (depending on usage), might it be then a battery problem. Since the unit is fairly new (6 months), perhaps you may want to reconsider reaching your dealer/point of purchase and request a replacement.
Alternately, you may want to consider a cigarette lighter adapter/charger.
As to the freezing, other that the tiny switch to the right of the gold connector strip which is the on/off, there is no master reset. This switch isolates the battery and allows the N40i to force a hard reset.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

The problem you are facing is due to a bad power supply.
i would recommend you to replace your batteries.
If your gps is still under warranty contact your dealer or navman for repairs.
The battery life could be extended by switching to a new battery but if your device is still covered by warranty that would void the warraty if its inside the device.
Why do try to change the battery, it sees that the battery life cycle was ended.. just try to use a new battery,

Can't change battery. Sealed system and to break into it would null any warantee. Problems still exist when the N40i Navman is operating on car battery supply. Some bigger internal problem than just the battery. Barry
