-You mean why the battery is not work at all after 40 minutes used due to power shortage..?
-Most the emergency battery last only couple years. It doesn't matter you used or not. Because it keep charging
24-7.
-But here try this too: Is it the outlet that it plug in has power (110-120 volts) ?
Yes. Then power outlet is good.
No. Then the breaker of that outlet is pop off. (Turn back on)
-Did it plug directly to the wall outlet or to a power strip outlet ?
-If directly then the battery's life is over.
-If to the power strip then check the ON - Off switch. It might be off.
If not then it's time for new one if still need one.
Good luck

Did you get any warning at all, or did it just stop for no reason, please?
If it shut off while on battery power, what happens when you try to run it off the mains?

On the backside of the connector where the ribbon goes there is a small strip of plastic there.LIFT IT UP ON BOTH ENDS,SLIDE THE RIBBON DOWN INTO IT.WHILE THE RIBBON IS IN IT,PUSH THE STRIP OF PLASTIC BACK DOWN MAKING SURE THE RIBBON STAYS IN PLACE (ALL THE WAY DOWN) WHILE PUSHING IT DOWN.You may have to try it a few times to get it snug in the motherboard connection.Good luck!

Just had the same thing happen, and I thought it was the motherboard. Then a tech friend removed the battery and held the power button down. Then he replaced the battery, and it booted up fine! Good luck...

ASUS have been gradually transitioning to chiclet-style keyboards on their Eee PC netbooks, with the latest model to get the new style being the Eee PC 1000HA. If you're an existing owner looking longingly at the new layout, meanwhile, and specifically have an ASUS Eee PC 1000H, you can fudge your own update with the keyboard from the Eee PC 1000HE.
ASUS Eee PC 1000H DIY 1000HE chiclet keyboard upgrade
It's not just an aesthetic upgrade, either. ASUS bizarrely played around with the keyboard layout on the 1000H, one of the most obvious changes being the right-hand shift key getting nudged across by the up arrow. The 1000HE keyboard, however, has a more standard layout.
There's a little modification required before the keyboard panel slots in - basically snipping off a few metal tabs - but it looks relatively easy from EeeUser.com forum member Barovelli's photos (some of which are reproduced here). Not all users are reporting 100-percent key success, however, so don't throw away your old 'board.
The replacement 1000HE keyboard is priced at $15 through ASUS; however, it's currently listed as out of stock.
