II have a 8.25 miter saw model 55-6814-8 and need a plastic safety guard as mine is broke.I need to find where I can order one.

Not much available for that vintage saw. The switch might be a possibility from a similar saw. Send images to one of the spares companies. Epoxy resin could fix the handle.

Yes, Did you buy it new? It has two heavy plastic seen through plate that are attached to each other. This safety shield is gravity fed. That mean as one pull down the saw the safety guard will pivot into the upper shield. As the saw go back up after cutting a piece of wood. The safety shield will drop back into it safety position covering the 12" blade. GB...stewbsion

If you want to replace the plastic cover there is a screw towards the front of the saw that must be removed and then the bolt at the back loosened and the guard will pull off. If you need more info get back to me with the other questions and I will try and help

lay the spring into the plastic safety cover, you will see a catch for one portion of the spring, the cover plate goes over it and there is a tab on it to catch the loose end and then the center plate which screws on to hold everything in place, check by turning the plate that holds it onto the saw for free movement. Go to www.ereplacementparts.com and search on your model to get a parts breakdown. Use TS1342L as the model number, the ZR indicates it's reconditioned. You can order parts from them or get the part numbers for the parts you need and check the internet for other vendors that may have better prices.

Either the blade or the guard is out of alignment. You will have to check and find out which one is the culprit.
