Hp 1315 printer will not print or scan. The print cartridge cradle grinds and moves rapidly back and forth, error indicator shows, check ink and paper lights blink. For a time I could turn the printer off and on. This no longer works. There is no paper jam and I tried all the suggestions in hp support. I cannot make a test print. Thank you.

DeskJet 895Cxi Printer ran out of black ink before my summerholliday. Back on job monday I replaced a new inkbox, HP 45 Black. The colour ink was changed just before my holliday. Still the orange light...

Follow each of these steps until the problem is resolved:

Remove and then reinsert the print cartridge(s) into the printer.

Clean the print cartridges automatically using the Clean Cartridges option in the Printer Assistant.

Manually clean the print cartridges and print cartridge cradles:

Open the printer cover and wait until the carriage moves to the center.

Press the Power button to turn off the printer.

Disconnect power cord from the back of the printer.

Remove the print cartridges and place them on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.

Lightly moisten a cotton swab with distilled water.

Clean the face and edges of the print cartridges with the swab. Do not touch the print cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts.

Wipe the underside of the print cartridge cradle walls using a clean, moistened swab.

Reinsert the print cartridges.

Close the printer cover.

Connect the power cord to the back of the printer.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.

Calibrate the print cartridges.

If the light is still flashing, replace the print cartridges.

The cradle is stuck

Fixed it myself...found this link:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00738923&dlc=en&product=443024

It would print the Tap Test as instructed in this illustration....but then wouldn't move to print anything else. So redid the Tap Test several times....then I lifted the lid while printing a test page so the cartridge was in the center and I could get ahold of it to slide it....left the printer ON, but unplugged the power cable...and then I was able to move the cartridge back and forth. I then took QTips with Windex on them and cleaned the silver bar the cartridge moves on. Got a lot of ink off of it.
A couple more test prints...and sliding the cartridge......and it is finally running again.

HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet Print Cartridge Error

Hello -
Did you perhaps not mean to post under the 1315? I am not sure if you have this printer or another model. The 1315 normally takes a different number ink cartridge.

Meanwhile - gotta tell you that the 1315 is the buggiest printer I ever had. If you purchased it recently and can find your receipt, I'd take it back! Since they've pretty much done away with the 1315, if it was a recent purchase, it was likely a clearance item from some place.

Try taking all the ink cartridges out, uninstall the printer entirely, and reinstall it (the entire printer, not just the cartridges). Blow your printer out with canned air as well - dust, pet hair, people hair, fuzz and general paper fibers can build up more than we think, and cause error messages and other printing problems.

That should help, if it was the 1315 model.

That being said, note that if it still doesn't work, and you have the 1315, save yourself a lot of grief and toss it in the trash and buy another cheap printer! 1315 is Bug City!

What is the cartridge cradle

The cartridge cradle is where the ink cartridges are installed. It slided back and forth on a silver rail. If the rail gets dirty, the cradle can stick and not move freely. Try cleaning the rail with a soft clean dry cloth.

I've also see the cradle become disconnected from the belt that moves it back and forth. If that has occurred, and it is out of warranty, it will need replacement.

Print cartridge cradle is stuck ican't find where it is jammed

This might help . . . Mine finished printing one doc & then made a terrible noise & sent a message to my screen that "print cartridge cradle is stuck." When i opened door, i could see it was stuck off to the left side so left cartridge was obscured. I could not get it to budge, although i kept turning it off, gently pushing & turning it back on. Finally, i got my hand inside & determined that the little door to the left-side cartridge had popped open & was causing it to remain stuck. After some struggles (turn off printer first!) i was able to maneuver it around & close it tight. Now, all is well . . .
