The battery is located in a compartment next to the thumb wheel! Undo a small Philips head screw and slide the battery compartment down to reveal the SR44W (357) battery!
The battery compartment is located right behind the center console in the G-class. To access it you will need to remove the cupholder assembly. It should have only 2 screws holding it down. Once you remove those screws and move the cupholder to the side you should be able to lift up the carpet so that you can remove the battery cover. If you have any problems let me know and I will try to help in anyway I can.
Your battery compartment is more than likely located in the back of the unit underneath the mounting bracket. You need to remove the mounting bracket in order to gain access to the battery compartment. You can find your manual here: http://phone.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/ge_appliances/ge_29897ge1_29897ge1.html But it doesn't have any reference to your battery compartment for your phone. That I could find anyway.
It is attached to the back wall of evaporator. You have to remove the glove compartment, blower unit and evaporator to get access to the expansion valve.
it's done from the inside of the passenger compartment... you may have to remove the battery first if it's on that side. oh and don't touch the bulb with your fingers ... it shortens the life of the bulb.
