I had the same paper feed grabbing problem on pixma MP 610 printers - take a flashlight and look down into the feed rollers inside - deep - I found a paperclip in one and a hair clip in another - you need a pair of very fine pincer pliers to extract so you dont damage the roller assembly's made of plastic - and voila no more misfeeds and grabbing on the right side - hint - dont put anything on top of the printers because when you lift the scanner cover, it nicely slides anyting on top into the paper feed assembly and results in a jam

That sounds just like what I fixed yesterday. I had to take off the side plate of the printer, which is one screw on top that you can see, behind the scanner lid. And the other you can see at the front when you open the whole lid, it sort of unclips once you unscrew it. I found paper in the side that it had been chewing up most and removed it and put it all back together and now it works. Dont forget to turn off the power. Good luck. Sharina

Paper jam problem

Hi Sarah, do you have an epson printer?
In these years i had this problem with a lot of Epson Printers...
Well, if this is the situation, i'm sorry to tell you that this is caused by the printer pick up rollers that are worn, so... you can try to wipe with alcohol the surface of the rollers, but there's no way to fix this...
You can try to gently push the paper inside the printer when it takes the sheet

Mp499 The paper tries to go thru but only one side pulls it and it goes sideways and gets jammed.

The feed wheels on the one side are either worn out or have some scrap paper stuck on them. Take a good look , after removing the paper tray, if it has one , inside the machine. It might be possible to turn the machine around and see into it from behind, if there is an access door on the back.

Hp 2610 paper jams on print command. Paper pulls sideways.

find the paper feed rollers and clean them. they get slick and one side will catch quicker and pull the paper side ways.

The paper is not feeding through. it is getting caught on one side, then jamming

the roller on one side isn't picking the paper while the one on the other side is. Hwnce the uneven pull on the paper force the paper sideways and then jams.

This is usually caused by dust in the interior of the printer so try this:-

This is sort of scenario could be caused by dust inside the printer. Dust prevents the rollers from having a firm grip on the paper while picking paper. When one roller has a firm grip and rolls the paper well while the other doesn’t, jam/crumpling results. So I will suggest you get a long handle brush and try to reach as far inside the printer as possible and brush (from the back and front; if you have a blower please use it as well). This, if properly done should do it. Brush especially the rollers etc.

HP scanjet 5590 pulls the paper half the way in and then starts pulling sideways and then gets stuck.

Have you checked to make sure there isn't previously jammed paper in the feeder?

It sounds like the paper is getting stuck on just one side which is causing the paper to start going sideways.

Every time I try to print, the printer grabs the paper crooked.

There's a leaver where the paper comes out, make certain it's to the left when printing with paper and to the right for envelopes.

Jamming problem

try this
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
