Everything was working fine, then the sound quit working when we play the DVD player. Switch back to TV-DVR mode and sound is fine. Change o DVD and it goes silent. We have to turn up the volume on the TV to hear movies. Our DVD player is a PS3.

I'm hooking up an APEX Digital TV and when playing a DVD, the picture is fine, but there is no sound. When on TV mode, sound is fine. Suggestions on how to fix this?

  • Turn everything off. Turn on TV and Select dvd input (Source). Wait 10 or so seconds. Turn on DVD player. Works for me with similar problem. Good luck -

TV has no picture but has sound

Did you say you went in to DVR set-up and checked the component out audio option? I have had similiar problems with motorola dvr boxes and once I was able to enable audio output option the dvr digital output was fine. Find the manual for the model dvd and this may cure.

What is your TV input connection? Are you using Antenna? Cable? Dish?

The Unusable Signal sounds like the TV is not getting a signal. Does your TV have a built in HD Tuner?

If you are using Antenna you might want to try setting up the connections and it should search for quality channels that you get good signal strength. If you are on channel 2 and there is no over the air channel 2 it may say "unusable signal".

How Do I Get a DVD to Work with This TV?

Make sure to switch the TV's tuner mode to Video or Aux mode.
You can change the mode using the original TV remote or directly from the TV's control panel.

Again, tuner mode picks up all live broadcast airwaves and Video or Auxillary mode displays what is inputed into the TV via second device..

Good Luck!
