No sound on my laptop but volume icon is there in system tray and volume is maximum and still no sound is heard. what do i do?

Did it work before or is this a new computer to you? There are several possibillities for the sound not to work. I would first check the device manager to see if the audio device is listed and to see if there are any resource conflicts present. This can be done by going into your windows control panel and selecting device manager to view the sytem components. If you see your sound making device listed with no conflicts present, then the next step would be to reinstall the device driver. You can that from the System Disc that came with the PC or by downloading it from the maufacturers website. Hope this helps.

VOLUME SHADOW COPY and sound functions have nothing in common other than both exist on a computer.
for volume icon, rt clk system tray expand button and select properties. Then turn volume on.

HI , dont know what windows your running ,might want try reinstalling sound driver . goto my computer , goto upper left corner click view system info/ next device manager . look for sound driver, look up date sound driver or reinstall .if that dont work might whant to check speakers are not blown or concected rght thanks help this helps

If it's plugged into a external speaker system, doesn't the external speaker system have volume control? In the Tray Notification Area, right click or click on the Sound Icon, adjust volume OR open the Control Panel and select Sounds Icon. My Dell Latitude E5500 speaker is too low, how to increase volume?
If you have volume control in the system tray (bottom right corner), double-click it. In Windows XP you will see all the sound controls. Increase all to the maximum level (except microphone).
Use the buttons close to the screen to increase the volume.
There is a volume control in the player you are using. Increase it to the maximum.

Hello, You can increase the volume of your laptop by, first check the speaker and headphone icon whether it is set to 100%.You can see it in the system tray or by the right hand side at the bottom of your screen or at the control panel,click on SOUND and increase the volume. Note the software you are using like window media center, VLC player, real player and the likes should also be increase to maximum, then if your computer has an external control for the volume, make sure you increase it to the maximum. If you mean the Volume icon in the system tray then you have to make it visible by Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Device Properties. here you will fing an option where it says Place Volume Icon in System tray. Just click its box.

Left click the volume icon in the system tray in windows.

A slider will appear which you can drag up and down to change the volume on the computer.

If the volume icon is not in the system tray, do this:

Go to Start->Control Panel
Pick Sounds and Audio Devices
Open the Volume tab
Tick "Place volume icon in taskbar"

Now you should have an icon in the taskbar.

If you cannot do this, then you do not have the proper sound card drivers installed and you computer will be playing no sound whatsoever, which is unrelated to your question.
