Is the discharge hose higher than the machine? If it is Lower it will never fill. Don't think there is a shut off in the hose to stop the water discharge.

sounds like you have a issue with your pump, I have had a simular problem with my washer and I had to call a technician out to fix the problem, if you need assistance in getting help with someone in your area to come and take a look at your problem let me know and I will help you.
I have a Kenmore 80 series mode #2289400. It will wash but will not drain and spin. I have turned the knob to a different spin cycle put it won't spin. I have drained the water out of the tub thru the drain pipe so it's not plugged. When it's ready to spin and it making no noice. Any help would be great.
Amy, there was a service flash for the lid switch on this model. The contacts inside the switch were sporatic which caused; stopping in mid cycle, wet clothes and no drain. You would have to put it in spin and have someone jiggle the wires to the lid switch to verify that this is the problem and not a timer problem. I really think it's a lid switch problem. Your part number for the new, non adjustable switch is 12001908.
