The machine begins just fine half way through a cycle it stops. Sometimes it runs with no problem. One time we got a code of (UE) I think not sure.

From back or underneath, check that all three shock absorbers are attached. Take top off and check if both springs are in place and un broken

I think there is nothing wrong with your washer. The UE error means Unballanced Error. This error comes up in two cases: 1. the load is distributed unevenly in the drum or 2. the machine is not properly set on an even surface (floor).
Of course, it could be a third case possible, but very unlikely, when the ballance sensor itself is malfunctioning and have to be replaced, or the spring and dampers are worn out and also have to be replaced.

IE:

• Water supply is not adequate in

• Water supply taps are not
completely open.
• Water inlet hose is bent.
• The filter of the inlet hose clogged.

Solution:
Check another tap in the house.
Fully open tap.
Straighten hose.
Check the filter of the inlet hose.

UE:
• Load is too small.
• Load is out of balance.
• The appliance has an imbalance
detection and correction system. If
individual heavy articles are loaded
(bath mat, bath robe, etc.) and the
imbalance is too great, after several
attempts to restart the spin cycle the
machine will stop and the error code
will be displayed.

Solution:
Add 1 or 2 similar items to help
balance the load.
Rearrange load to allow proper

UE:

My machine is doing just the same! It is about the same age as yours. I cannot believe this is it working properly, but the manufacurers are no help.

I am seriously thinking of getting rid of it, and would be loathe to touch an LG again.

The UE is an onbalanced load fault code.. Unplug the machine to clear the code.. leave it unplugged for about 10 mins and try to run it empty.  If it persists you would be advised to contact a service technician.  Bust of luck

it may be a balance problem

UE code is an "unbalance error". Believe it or not, it is possible to unbalance a front load style washing machine. Usually caused by trying to wash smaller loads where the drum spins to try to distribute the weight evenly. With less laundry, you cannot distribute enough weight evenly around the drum and sometimes will cause an unbalanced load. If your problem is not a simple loading issue, it could be the balance sensor, loose wiring, or possibly the main control board. I hope this helps.
