I'm assuming you mean you have HDMI coming out of the PS3 and going in to the DVI port on the back of the TV, via an adaptor or cable with a different connector on either end.
I have the same TV, you need a separate audio connection between ps3 and tv. HDMI can transmit audio and video but DVI (which is what the TV has) can only do video.
You'll need a 2 x phono female to 3.5mm jack male adaptor cable. like this one to make the audio connection.
you could also try this adaptor but its a bit big and therefore may not fit into the space available.
after getting an adaptor do this (keep your original setup the same)
1. Put the ps3 AV cable into the back of the ps3. 2. then connect the red and white plugs (ignore the yellow) from the ps3 AV into the adaptor (discussed above). 3. then connect the 3.5mm jack (from the adaptor) into the small audio port right next to the DVI port on the back of the TV (I believe its called 'DVI Audio')
I've not tried this and I don't have a ps3, yet, but in theory it should work, as long as the ps3 will send audio to the av output at the same time as to the hdmi output.
if it works, then post a response, i'd like to know for the future.
good luck

I just bought a phillips blu ray and trying to hook it up to my sanyo 50" plasma through a hdmi i get video but no sound the tv says to use the dvi port and audio 3 inputs but the blu ray does not hav

Hello there, the hdmi cable is a great way to get high definition video from a bluray player to a tv, but if the bluray player is part of a surround sound system you will need to get the sound to the tv separately. There is often a red and white audio terminal in the rear of the bluray player, sometimes located next to a yellow terminal, these are known as a component connection as each component (coloured terminal) is separate and operates a separate function, but all 3 connections can be used together to create a SCART equivalent. You may need to connect an 'Audio Component to 3.5mm jack' cable from the white and red terminals to the headphone/line in socket on the tv.

alternatively, as wilth my player, there is a button on the remote which switches the audio source from component, hdmi, SCART, etc, this may be the same for you.

hope this helps.

Can't get any sound when playing discs through a blu ray player connected via a hdmi cable and DVI adapter.

The DVI adapter stops the audio. Use the audio out ports on the bluray player to connect an audio pair cable to the tv.

How do i connect my compaq pc to tv

Without the model number comptuer, I cannot verify what outputs your comptuer has. Without this, I will provide the various ways a PC can be connected to a TV.

1. Use a VGA to DVI adapter (HD-15 pin to DVI). Use either a standard VGA montor extension cable (cheaper) or a DVI extension cable (more expensive) to make the connection

2. If you computer has a DVI output, use a DVI extension cable only

3. If your computer has HDMI output - use a HDMI to DVI adapter and either a HDMI or DVI extension cable.

In all 3 cases, you will probably need to go to the comptuer's Display Properties and adjust the screen size so it looks OK on your TV (go to the Control Panel - find Display) and adjust the screen resolution to match the format of your TV.

One note - when purchasing DVI cables, understand that there are 3 types - DVI-D (digital), DVI-A (analog) and DVI-I (digital and analog) and that the pin outs are different. Be sure to check your the owners manual of your TV to find which connection it needs.

Here is a good reference for DVI types

Issue playing audio from AcerTravelMate6593 on Phillips37PFL7603D

You need to run the audio out to an amplifier such as a stereo unit. The computer doesn't have enough power via the line out to make the TV pick up the sound by itself unless you turn the volume all the way up and maybe not even then, so an amplifier is your answer. It work for me.

Ps3 doesnt connect to my computer monitor, how can i make it work?

Hey daashman,

According to information provided by the manufacturer, this particular Samsung model supports both VGA and DVI-type cable connections. The Playstation 3 however, does not currently support cables of either of these formats.

The good news is that there are ways around these limitations, typically in the form of a cable adaptor. Most models of the Playstation 3 should have an option for owners to use an HDMI cable to connect their TV or monitor, and many major electronic retailers often sell HDMI to DVI adaptors or adaptor cables of varying lengths.

If you're not quite sure what to look for, I would suggest checking out an online search engine for "HDMI to DVI adaptors." This should pull up a number of links that can provide you with not only detailed pictures, but also average pricing of the products available to you as well.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Hooking up a sony playstation 3 with digital optical cable

Here's one solution, if you have an audio output from your tv, you can go from the audio output on your tv to the audio input on your receiver that way anything that is playing on your tv for example, playstation 3, dvd player etc. Anything playing on your tv will have audio on your onkyo home theater system. The other thing I would try if you want to hook ps3 directly to receiver is go to your connection settings on your ps3 menu and change your connection method to digital optical cable.
