Advantium 120 door handle breakage

Do you have the part number and possibly replacement procedure for the door handle of my Advantium 120 microwave # SCA1001FSS01.

I can change the TCO blindfolded, and am otherwise pleased with the unit, but now my son has broken the handle off!

    I had my kitchen remodeled

    in the spring of 2003. Included this oven as part of the package and have been pleased overall. Yesterday I also discovered that the handle had broken at the bottom. Further inspection revealed a crack in the bottom plastic molding that starts where the door handle is attached. I called GE and although I am not completely happy, they are sending a new door and handle at a 50% discount to retail.



    I am trying to avoid the charges for a tech to come out. Any advice on how the door can be removed and replaced? It doesn't look too difficult but I don't want damage the new door by making a mistake. Any helpers? A video or picture would be appreciated.

    I have a new black handle, if anyone is interested. I decided to upgrade to the newest Avantium.

Handle broken off the door of a black advantium 120
The handles are usually held on by two screws which are usually visible on the back of the door. The handle itself should be available at some of the parts suppliers who sell on the internet.

The door handle on my microwave broke away from the door. Is it
Of course it is.  You can glue it on with gorilla glue, perhaps using a screw shaft (be sure to drill pilot holes) like a dowel in carpentry to secure and add area for the glue to adhere to.  Drill the pilot hole in the handle bit the thread diameter rather than the shaft diameter, so you don't have to screw the handle on once you cut off the screw head.

How do you replace the handle on my advantium 120 oven
If it's just the bottom one and you don't want to disassemble things to reconnect things right, drill a pilot hole in at an angle through handle and door to permit screwing in a wood screw to fix it up.  Brutish, yet sexy.

Check out this door frame diagram, specifically number 1805. It clips on to the door frame. Remove it using a dull table knife or something similar (be careful not to scratch or break anything). You will then have access to the bottom screw.

Microwave door handle
First, never remove the door. You will disturb the alignment which holds in the microwaves. Generally, the door can be disassembled by removing the screws on the cavity side of the door. Once inside, then you should be able to replace the handle. Often the screws are of the torx variety...also call star.
