I own a canon powershot S3 is and I am getting this strange E24 error where in the camera lense would comes out and just goes in . Another interesting thing I observed is when the LCD is on and I am in the image display mode (That is browsing the existing images) then there is no problem if the LCD panel is open or closed the camera just seem to respond normally, only when I change to the shooting mode the camera lense would come out and go in with the camera shutting down. what is problem with my camera? I used New Batteries for camera but the proplem still remains same.

It sounds like it needs to be serviced. If you're out of warranty, then go to this site: www.camerasandparts.com They just service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they are not much at all. The best part, they do outstanding work and they are much less than Canon. Hopefully that helps you with it, that's where a lot of people go for help with these Canon Powershots if the warranty is already up on the camera.

The problem is not in the batteries you use. This error means there is a problem with the mainboard or the lens mechanism. If it is under warranty, take it for a replacement.

Canon PowerShot A630. How do you take the back off the screen of a Canon A630 camera please?

Question edited to add full make and model.
Question moved from Dishwashers to Canon PowerShot A630.

Personally, I would send it to Canon for professional service. It may just be a problem with insufficient battery milliamps.

I would remove the batteries, wait a few minutes, and reinstall the batteries. That should reset your camera

When turing on my Canon SX100IS camera it opens the lense then closes and gives me an E24 error. I am able to replay phones on my SD Card but not take new pictures since the lense retracts

Hi,
you get this error message E24 because your lens is slightly out of alignment. Cycling the camera on/off several times will serve to help the lens to work it's way back in alignment.
Even though your battery may be fully charged, as a Lithium Ion battery ages, it begins to lose capacity so you don't have enough power to take any still . Try a different battery.
Clean the battery contacts with a pencil eraser. Sometimes, a dirty battery contact can prevent the battery from providing all the current the camera needs.

Hope this helps.

Camera lense/power

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

Error code

I found the answer on another site and was able to fix my camera myself. E24 means your LCD display has come unplugged. What happens if you rotate the screen too much you tighten up the wire and it pulls the connection out of its socket. There ar 4 screws on hedispla, unscrew ad take th back off the screen. Unwind the screen until the wires loosen up. Replug in the loose connector. Resecure the back

Won't Starting to capturing

I'm not sure what that error message is but it's definitely some type of an error code the camera is giving you. It sounds like it probably needs to be serviced. An excellent place where you can have it fixed is www.camerasandparts.com They just work on the Canons and they are not expensive at all for service. They do excellent work on these models. I hope that helps you with it, best of luck with the problem.
