There may be something corrupt in your Hard Drive's cache that is causing a problem with the console operating correctly.

Use the following guide from Microsoft to clear the system cache:

I'm losing my connection...

It sounds like you've refused an Xbox Live Update at some point.
You can go into your system options and see if there's an update available.
To check for an update on the Xbox 360 you basically force a new Xbox Live connection:
  1. Press the Guide button (center logo button), bringing up the pop-up menu
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select System Settings
  4. Select Network Settings
  5. Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network if you're on wifi
  6. Select Test Xbox Live Connection
  7. Select Yes if prompted to update. If you're not prompted and the test completes successfully, you have the most recent update.
If that doesn't work try this link http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/927749-xbox-360/67807343

Try to clear your system of the most recent patch:
"Solution 6: Delete and then re-download system updates
To delete and then re-download the system updates, follow these steps.
Note These steps delete system updates that are installed on your Xbox console.
  1. Press the Guide button and then select Xbox Home.
  2. Select settings and then System.
  3. Select Storage.
  4. Highlight your storage device (but do not press A to select it).
  5. Press the following buttons in the following order:
    1. Left bumper
    2. Right bumper
    3. X button
    4. Left bumper
    5. Right bumper
    6. X button
  6. On the Delete System Update screen, select Yes.
  7. After your Xbox console restarts, select OK to download and install the system update.
  8. After the system update is installed, re-download your Xbox Live profile and try to sign in to Xbox Live."

You may also be out of hard drive space if you're using a 4gb internal model Xbox 360. If you haven't already, find yourself a compatible USB thumb drive to insert, format and use as added memory.

My xbox 360 dosent want to update

The new update for 360's launch of Kinect is causing problems. I fixed mine by going into System Settings, Network settings, then running a test on xbox live. Initiating the test logs your profile out then runs a network test. The test completed with no problems and then asked me if I wanted to update again. Without logging back into my profile I clicked OK and the update ran without a hitch. I think the solution lies in the fact that my profile was logged out and from what I have seen, the only way to connect to xbox live without a profile being logged in is with a network test. Once you connect to xbox live it senses that you don't have the update and asks you again, this time without a profile logged in and you are able to do it.

When i try to update my live it will not work when the first part of the update is done it says cant download the update

Xbox Live has been having difficulties lately, today in particular. This is not a problem with your system or your internet connection. What you have to do, is keep restarting the update until it completes. It's a pain, I know, but you will get it to update with minimal fuss, as Microsoft has been working on this all day. Thanks.

XBox 360 not compatible with Motorola WR850G

Motorola WR850G router may fail to connect to xbox live after update to firmware 6.1.4. I was able to correct the problem. My solution was
Go in xbox >> network config >> IP and use Static option. Set the xbox to an IP in the range allowed by your router configuration. The router IP config range is found in the router config web >> Lan section. Then I set my router config >> Routing >> DMZ IP Address setting to the xbox ip I just assigned to my xbox. Restart router using the restart button on the Basic page of router config. Restart your xbox and attempt to login to xbox live. This solved my problem.

As a side note, on the xbox networking test page, the xbox live status message will allows show they are aware of a problem with xbox live login. This is a lie. For that reason I postponed trying to fix my router problem thinking it was an xbox issue, it is not. Once you finally connect to xbox live you will still notice this incorrect message remains.
