SOURCE: Fuji Finepix E900 freezes after 2pics, must remove batteries

I had the same problem and when I contacted Fuji they said that there was a defect in a chip that several of the name brands had used for a period of time. They had me send in mu Finepix and they repaired it for free.

SOURCE: Fuji FinePix S9000 battery change clears date/time.

Hi

I started having a similar problem with my Fuji FinePix F10 after about 3 1/2 years of problem-free use. Another poster had some really helpful advice which I thought I'd pass on. It seems there is an internal battery or capacitor which basically fails after a while, meaning date/time settings etc are lost when the battery is removed. (Some people claim this is a motherboard/chip problem instead - seems to be contentious!) So the camera is faulty, but the problem can be worked around.

The advice I found, which worked for my camera, was this:

- Turn off camera and leave off for approx 15 seconds before opening battery door.
- Change battery quickly (within a few seconds).
- Close battery door and leave camera off for approx 15 secs before turning back on.

This retained all settings when I tested it multiple times. I imagine it might not work if changing over a totally dead battery though.

Hope it helps!

SOURCE: how do you charge the battery on a fuji finepix z digital camera

The battery does not charge via USB.

Place the battery into the charger, then plug the charger into a wall socket.

Refer to the section titled "Charging the Battery" in the manual.

Testimonial: "Thank You, now all I have to do is purchase a charger."

Camera lights up and all seems well, but on firing shutter, camera shuts down and display turns black

Had the same problem. Tried brand new high power batteries with no success. Another site suggested that should try rechargeable batteries instead. Had a couple of NiMH lying around so charged them overnight and put them in the camera...Camera now works normally again.

Lens wont retract or extend when pushing the power button and cannot take photos. power will not remain on.

Can you turn the camera on by pressing the playback button? This should turn the camera on to view pictures on the card without opening the lens.
Check the tab on the battery door. it should activate a micro switch next to the card slot on the main board. If this is damaged then the camera will not power up.
If the lens is stuck then this will also prevent power up

Camera powers down when pressing shutter button

I see this frequently on the E900. Every time it has been a battery issue. If you're using rechargables (the E900 came with batteries and charger in the Canadian market......not sure about the rest of the planet), they may have just worn out over time. Replace with new NI-MH (nickel metal hydride) rechargeables. If you're using throw-away AA's, try Energizer Ultimate Lithiums. I've solved many, many E900 shutting off problems simply by changing the batteries to Energizer Lithiums.

FinePix E900 battery problem

The support desk at Fujifilm got me to insert new batteries (rechargables) and try again. The batteries did not die but in the viewer, the picture is very bright (white) and has close horizonal lines running across the picturere. They want me to send it in by registered post (cost to me), only give a quote after inspecting it - which is far enough, but if I don't go ahead with the repairs, it will cost me $40 to get the camera back (as if it would be any good to me). Their web site states that the average repair is about $120, but it could be lots more. When I paid nearly $700 for the thing I expected it to last more than just over a year.
I rang several camera repairers who all told me that the only place that can repapir Fujifilm is Fuji themselves. This is not good and I won't be buying another Fujifilm again.
