How does one change the belt on a Dyson DC17 vacuum? Thanks

Hi there,

Under normal circumstances, the belt on your DC17 should not need replacing. If the brushbar is not rotating, please follow our simple step-by-step guide to ensure everything is correct with your machine:

I have a blockage in the wand and don't know how to remove it. No suction

Disassemble Your Dyson Animal so you can access the area around the wand. If the block is in the wand itself, you can clear it by passing something through it (such as a broom or mop handle).

Blocks in other piping and outlets can be removed by hand.

Beauty of the Dyson Animal line is that a homeowner can find and fix problems easily.

The roller-brush on my Dyson DC17 makes a terrible noise at all times. I removed the cover and extracted all debris from this area, making sure all connections were as secure as possible, but that didn't...

Check the belt to see if a layer or piece of it has come loose and is flappping around.
Check for any loose parts that could be getting hit by the brush or other moving parts.
Make sure the brush it tightly in place and can not move.

Roller bar belt broke on my dc17 animal. how do i

This belt isn't available at your normal retail stores like Walmart or Home Depot. You can try your local vacuum repair shop, but not all vacuum shops carry Dyson parts. The best bet is online. You can get this belt here at this link and shipping is only $1.99. That might be worth it rather than driving all over trying to find that belt.

Dyson Animal DC17 motor won't stay on

You will need to have the button replaced. Dyson power buttons are notorious for breaking because just a gentle push is all that is required and they can break if they have been pushed down roughly.
