It's best to follow your manual as there are specific steps to be followed at specific times. First you add liquids (water, oil, etc.), then sugar and salt, then flour and finally yeast as the last ingredient. (Don't let the yeast come in contact with the liquids or salt).
When my wife & I make bread, we usually mix in a little additional bread yeast just to make certain everything g goes well. Make certain your water is at room temperature, not too hot, nor too cold.
Next place the baking pan into the machine, locking it in place.
Plug the bread maker in and you get a signal beep and program 1 appears in the display. You can set the browning level at this time. You can also set a delay for up to 15 hours before starting if you wish.
Press start and the machine starts to mix and then kneed the mix. It will start, stop, start again, etc. Just let it do it's thing until it beeps 10 times and the display reads 0:00.
Take it out, be careful, it will be hot.
I don't know which Silvercrest you have, but if you don't have a manual, here's one you can download. Should be near enough to yours to get you through your first loaf.
