It sounds like your input signal is in 4:3 and the projector is in 16:9.
You need to adjust the "Resize" mode.
On your remote, press the "Resize" button (bottom-right of the remote, looks like a screen with two arrows pointing left and right [< >]) until it is in "Normal" mode. If that does not work, try setting it to "Border".

Picture is squished short, curved, and too wide

This sounds like either a convergence or pincushion problem.

We would like to print the pdf drawings architects email us but the Techjet 720c just squishes the whole thing along one edge. How can we print these pdf's to scale?

I would try to set printing option to "Print As Image". From the Adobe Reader, you would like to click "File" then "Print" then click "Advanced" tab, and select a check mark on the "Print as Image".
Then click "OK" and "OK" to print the pdf file.
Hope this helps

Need help with my TV kp-51ws510. big screen the picture looks like someone squished the top and bottom of the screen. It dip down in the middle frow the top to the bottom.

The vertical scan amplifiers are loosing gain. This is usually caused by aging capacitors, and sometimes other types of components.

Because of the age of the set, it is possible that after servicing the fault the chance of having other component failures is high.

Hi there When I shoot in 16x9 widescreen with my Canon XL1 the viewfinder shows the same image as when shooting in 4x3. Can this be adjusted. Regards John

It is not showing the same image, it is showing the 16x9 squished down to the 4x3 aspect ratio. I thought I had the same thing at first too. But to check & make sure set up a shot of something square in one or the other shooting ratios. Then go into the menu & set it up on the 16x9 on/off. To make it easier to see the picture hook up to a monitor to see the picture without squinting through the eye piece. Now while you are watching the picture switch the 16x9 on & off on the camera. If you started in 16x9 the square will lengthen from side to side in 4x3, while the square in 4x3 will become squished on the sides. If you can't tell, take a piece of tape [removable tape that is] and make the sides of the box before & after you change the aspect ratio.

36 Inch Toshiba - Single Bright Horizontal Line

You're losing your horizontal voltage that drives the fly back transformer. Poking around inside can be hazardous to your health since you have to worry about high voltages present on the picture tube even when the TV is off. You may still be able to get parts for those old TV's but they may hard to find. You can try here, but if you have no background in TV repair, it will be pointless.

Jpeg images are all squished up

The jpeg images will have to be resized using PhotoShop or another image editing program in either a 4 to 3 proportion, or a 16 to 9 proportion - whichever format you want to stick with. Then reburn the images to disc.
