Car DVD player will only play sound through wireless headphones, not through speakers

So we bought a used toyota sienna and the DVD player will only play the sound through the wireless headphones, not through the car's speakers. I have tried everything I can think of but there doesn't seeem to be a way to adjust the audio output. Any suggestions?

We have a GMC Envoy which also does not allow us to play the sound from the dvd player through the car's speakers. Although we purchased the vehicle new with the dvd player already installed, it was installed by the dealer, making it after-market. I assume those that were installed in the factory work differently. Maybe this is the case with your's as well. Good luck!!

There is an item you can purchase from your local Radio Shack dealer that allows you to plug from the dvd player into the cigarette lighter. That is what we use. Works great!

2011 sienna radio is on and dvd will play through headphones in rear but nothing out of the speakers

If all speakers quit at once i would suspect the amplifier has quit. Depending on the specific stereo system it may be inside the radio or an external amp.

Tview in dash dvd

Let me make sure I understand this. When you have a DVD play in English, you get a buzzing noise in your wireless headphones. But if it plays in Spanish, it sounds fine? Does this occur with every DVD, or just a certain DVD? Have you tried listening to it without the headphones - using car speakers. If so, did you have the same problem? If you can answer those questions for me, I can try to figure out what's wrong here.

My Toyota DVD system will not transmit sound through wireless headphones or headphones with wires plugged in directly. The sound does play through the van speakers.

I think you will need to disable the Van speaker connection to the DVD system. Can you tell me what is the model of your DVD system. You can test your wired headphones on other devices to see if it works. Then you can check the menu options and see if there is settings about which speakers to use.

2005 dodge caravan, factory dvd... no sound through speakers

My grandcarvan sxt came with a remote for the DVD system and wireless headphones from KOSS. You have to press the headphone button on the remote to change it to headphones otherwise it comes through the main system. With the button pressed we can listen to cd or radio in front while they wear the headphones in back. You might need the remote to change it back to main system. The headphones from Koss are lifetime guaranty and not too expensive.

No sound from wireless headphones in a toyota sienna

First thing to do is check to make sure that the batteries are properly charged.

Second, make sure that you have a clear line-of-site to the IR transmitter. Infrared (IR) works the same way that your TVs remote control works - if the signal is blocked, then you will not hear any sound.

Third, make sure that you are in the rear seat of the vehicle when listening to the sound. The IR transmitter only transmits to the rear seat, so you will not hear any sound if you are sitting in the front seats. This is a common problem that i see.

Lastly, make sure that the heapdhones you purchased are compatible with your 2006 2007 2008 2009 or 2010 Toyota Sienna. Remember that some older models require RF headphones, not IR headphones. I checked http://www.audiovideo2go.com for compatibility before I purchased my headphones. They have a useful listing of all the headphones and models of vehicles they are compatible with.
