Sears Kenmore 53652300, doesn't cool

My Kenmore 53652300 refrigerator, suddenly stop make cool.
I unplugged the condenser fan connector so I can hear the compressor
running more clearly. The compressor is started, running, but just running
stops in very short time, 15 ~ 20 seconds, then stopped again.
I can also hear the click sound of the relay action. What might be wrong?

Thanks!

This usually indicates that the compressor is working too hard and drawing too much current. The click that you hear is a safety shut-off. Possible causes of this are numerous and usually require having a professional come in to fix the issue, it can range anywhere from a faulty compressor to a bad start relay.

There is in most cases a temporary fix, it is called a hard start relay/capacitor. It is usually available from an appliance parts retailer for around $15 to $20. Installation instructions are included, just be sure to unplug your refrigerator first and make sure that someone following you can repair from where you left off. This relay assembly can normally get you up and running but it should not be used as a permanent fix. This will not correct for a refrigerant leak in the system.

Check your refrigerator owners manual before making any repairs or modifications to your refrigerator, there may be an extended warranty on the sealed system and compressor.

My fridge and freezer do not seem to be cooling. Lack of air flow possible compressor failure. Looking for any solution I could try at home.

OK I will give you a try and see if I can help. Kenmore is a Sears Brand name as you already know. What happens is Sears call their models something different than the number I or you need to make a parts search. Click Here=> Sears Kenmore model Number Prefix and complete Model Number As you see in the photo about mid page the sample number is 795.78753800 so the prefix is in this case a 795 LG Electronics Refrigerator. Once you locate that number I will want you to unplug refrigerator and pull away from wall. Remove the lower cover over the compressor area to expose compressor, condenser fan and condenser coil. Fill the top of your compressor to see if warm, hot or too hot to keep your hand on top of refrigerators compressor. If too hot to keep hand there leave unplugged until compressor cools enough to open the cover on the terminal box on the side and we need to do some test from there. Click here=> How to test a Compressor for Burnout
Down on this Page Almost at Bottom. Don't worry this is only a windings test so you get an idea of what to look for.I want you to open freezer door and feel to make sure fans are running while compressor runs. I will await your response, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Kenmore elite refrigerator no longer cooling

Try moving it out so that you can get to the back of it. You have power as the lights work. Here are a couple of things to check. There is a fan motor with a blade on the shaft. Turn the temp. control down so unit will cycle on. See if this condenser fan motor is running. If not, it has burn out. If it is running, check to see if you can hear the compressor pot running, You will be able to hear it come on when you turn the control down to colder. Please don't turn the control up and down, as this will cause the compressor to short cycle and lock out on overload. Wait about 5 Min. between moving control knob. If compressor doesn't run, it could be the start relay, or you have lost the compressor. There are many things that can go wrong, but these are just a couple you can check out yourself. Condenser fan motor you can replace yourself. I hope this gives you a place to start.

Good Luck, Sincerely, shastakaker7

ps Always unplug unit before replacing any parts.

Freezer works Refrigerator will not cool down

The compressor should be OK this time because you caught it in time. But if the condenser fan stops you need to consider replacing the fan. I have had refrigerators do fine until the fan motor warms up and you are away, it stops. Don't think you should use the refrigerator until the fan is fixed. Sea Breeze

Kenmore Elite model 73503201, Refrig hot, freezer working.

first, sears doesnt make any of their own appliances, but they do sell them, so you can be upset, but it is fixable. what is happening is the freezer fan is not running causing no cold air to circulate. the reason the door strip feels hot is it has a heater to prevent condensation and when the unit is cooling properly it will feel normal temps.
check to see if you can hear the fan running in the freezer, if it is then you may have a defrost problem, but most likely you have a bad fan motor. remove the rear panel in the freezer and check the fan to see if it is turning. if not replace the motor.
