If it is open you need to determine why it opened. Is the exhaust pipe clogged or does it have to many elbows or is it too long.
4 elbows is about equal to a clogged pipe.

YOU NEED TO POP THE TOP UP BY GETTING A FLAT SCREWDRIVER OR SOMETHING IN THE GAP UNDER THE LID.
ONCE YOU GOT THE TOP OFF THERE SOULD BE TWO SCREWS HOLDING THE FRONT ON.

plumber, pop the top on the dryer by pushing on the two clips just under the top on each side. In the back you will see the heater. You want to check the high limit thermostat (this one sits on the top side of the heater) and the thermal fuse (sits on the side about 4 inches down. Unplug the dryer and check them with a meter. If either shows open (no continuity) replace them. Make sure your venting is not clogged up and the heater is not grounded or fractured. Part number for the high limit is 53-0771 and for the thermal fuse is LA-1053. Check these first...Catriver...post back.
