I originally did this as a work around for what turned out to definitely be a faulty HDMI card in the reciever and it worked well, you need to go(on the PS3) Settings then scroll down to Display Settings...

It's in the manual of nearly every piece of audio electronics to ensure adequate ventilation.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Onkyo-TX-SR606-Receivers-manual/id/16690ag612/t/2/

"7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions."

"18. If you install the apparatus in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or rack, ensure that there is adequate

ventilation. Leave 20 cm (8") of free space at the top and sides and 10 cm (4") at the rear. The rear edge of the shelf

or board above the apparatus shall be set 10 cm (4") away from the rear panel or wall, creating a flue-like gap for warm air to escape."

But who actually reads the manual?

I am having HDMI output issues to my HD TV. The issues are intermmitent. I have my HD cable box, BluRay Player both hooked into the reciever via HDMI. The Hdmi output of the reciever feeds my TV. I have...

Have you proven that a straight shot HDMI to the TV from either source solves the problem?

For all we know the TV or it's HDMI cable could be faulty.

Sound won't play through Onkyo TX-SR605 when using HDMI

The chances are that you have selected an incorrect sound setting or not switched it on, for the HDMI you are using. With Onkyo receivers each connection will have it own settings for video and sound. You just need to look in the manual as to how to select the settings.

Receiver taking a long time to transmit reciever

I assume that the HDMI works fine if you go directly from the dish receiver to the TV with either HDMI cable. And try it with a different source (DVD or x-box) in the same input port.

Take it to a Radio Shack there service centers can repair Onkyo in warranty. Most Onkyo receivers carry a two year warranty.

No audio from pc connected using hdmi

Are you not getting audio to the television speakers and the onkyo reciever speakers when connected HDMI thru the reciever or just the television. If it is just thru the television then it is because the reciever is grabbing the HDMI audio signal and converting it so it does not reach the TV. If it is both then try changing the HDMI signal output from PCM to DOLBY DIGITAL on the computer. Your reciever may not be able to process the PCM signal of the computer. Does the reciever show a PCM or DOBLY DIGITAL display when HDMI is hooked up to it?

I have a onkyo 706 reciever and I can't get any TV sound

Component (i.e. TV) should be connected to plug labeled IN (signal IN receiver).

No surround sound from my PS3 through the Onkyo 5100. Video OK

Unfortunately only the higher end Onkyo Reciever pass audio over HDMI for sound. 605,705,805,905 exc. Your reciever will carry Video over HDMI but you will need a digital optical cable for sound.

thanks.

Brand new Onkyo Tx-sr605 won't leave stand by

If the unit will not leave standby I would remove all power, disconnect *all* connections at the back, reconnect to a power source and try powering on. This will eliminate any connection causing the Onkyo to stay in standby due to a short. If it still will not enter power-on mode, you may want to look at the power source (is it properly grounded?), but beyond that the unit probably needs to go back.
