Usually firmware updates are made to resolve small issues, or to update comparability with new data formats. If anything, this might resolve some problems you'll have with your TV down the road if you don't update it now. So there should be no problem with a firmware update.

The usual advice is that if it isn't broken, don't fix it. Some sets have had problems with banding in the picture or the screen going black at odd times; the firmware was probably intended to fix those. If that is the case, changing the firmware on a set that works well may actually cause a problem.

I have horizontal lines at the bottom of my television. You can still see through the lines but the are noticeable. Model is a Visio V585-H1.

Horizontal lines at the bottom of a television screen can indicate several potential issues. Here are a few possibilities to consider in relation to your Vizio V585-H1 model:
1. Signal Interference: If you have a cable or satellite TV service, the lines may be caused by signal interference. Try checking the connections between your cable/satellite box and the TV, ensuring they are secure and properly connected. If you have an antenna, adjusting its position or adding a signal amplifier may help improve the signal quality.
2. Display Settings: It's worth checking your TV's display settings to ensure they are properly configured. Navigate through the TV's menu and adjust settings such as picture mode, aspect ratio, and sharpness. Experimenting with these settings may help resolve the issue.
3. Source Device Issue: The lines could be related to the device connected to your TV. Try using a different HDMI cable or connecting a different device (such as a DVD player or game console) to see if the lines persist. This will help determine if the problem lies with the TV or the specific source device.
4. Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your Vizio TV model. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause display issues. Visit Vizio's support website and search for your specific model to find any available firmware updates and instructions on how to install them.
5. Hardware Defect: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware defect with the TV itself. In this case, it would be best to contact Vizio's customer support or seek assistance from a qualified technician who can diagnose and repair the problem.
Remember to consult the TV's user manual for specific troubleshooting steps and contact Vizio support for further assistance if needed.

This is a common problem with Vizio TVs. The problem is usually caused by the tv's firmware. You can try updating the firmware, but if that doesn't work, you'll need to contact Vizio customer support.

When I plug it in and turn it on it blinks green to turn off red. What is the problem.

Today's Tv's has a slot for an sd card if yours has one. Then you need to check with your Models firmware 'It might need to get updated. We have Panasonic and it was doing the exact thing we updated the firmware. And it resolve the issue at hand. Good luck.

This problems are not tv firmware.Firmware is for basic updating software, never cures hardware problems. This problems is the tv Tuner signal board itself, exchange it to another tv or ask for warrenty repair, just make sure they change the whole tv Tuner signal board. This problems could be anythings in tv Tuner signal board circuitries causing this problems.

Intergrated freeview not working

It's a corrupted firmware, dude. As you may have "automatic firmware update" activated, your tv auto-updated itself at night and, when you tried to turn on next day, you realised the screen is blank and the menu is inaccessible. The only thing you could do now is go to a Toshiba technician and ask for a firmware update. It will solve your problem, as far as it solved mine too. If you don't have guarantee, they'll probably charge you for the update... but don't worry: it mustn't be very expensive.

Good luck.

Won't respond to volume or channel changes red light blinks 20x's when turned off.

It's definitely a firmware problem. I called Panasonic and they were very polite about the entire situation and sent me a SD card with the firmware update. If you don't have time and you're tired of listening to tv at the same volume there is a way to do a hard reset.

I figured that unplugging the unit would do this, but there is one other step that you have to do to ensure that this works.

Generally the power button on the tv is always in the "on" position, this is what allows the remote to work. In order to do a hard reset the on/off button must be in the off position. Make sure that is off, then unplug the unit, let it sit there for a minute or two and plug it back in. If the tv comes back on as soon as you plug it back into the wall/powerstrip then the button was not in the off position.

This isn't the best fix, you'll still need to get the firmware update but it will at least give you the ability to use your tv normally....well until it decides to randomly lock up on you again and you have to do this all over.

Broken tv

I had problems with channels on my Olevia LCD TV. My problem was solved by updating to the latest firmware.

http://www.olevia.com/en-us/Support/Firmware.aspx

Make sure the USB flash drive is formatted with the right file system, or the set will not see the updated firmware.

Good luck!
