The issue if your light bulb behind the LCD matrix is burnt out you need to replace them. This is common for these monitors. The bulbs simply snap off an on by a connector to the high voltage power supply. When you open the monitor up, you will see he board with HV supply on it Trace the two (red an white) wires to the backlight (bulbs) and verify by looking at their ends looking for black discolor at he ends of the bulb (This means the interior of the bulb is carbonizing = shorting out). Most times the monitor will shut down into orange light, but sometimes it will not ignite the fluorescent bulb)(s).

You may have to replace the screen if you can see things on the screen but have to use a flashlight this would be something I would change out. If you want to go deeper into it plug the monitor into another working computer and see if it works fine if that is the case then you are dealing with a video card issue. Replace the video card and go from there it should work fine from that fix. Thanks for using FixYa! do not forget to vote for me. John

Phillips 60pp9202-17 TV has sound, but no picture, no chirping, power light is on

Hold flashlight up to screen to see if back light is out. If it's out you'll see video.if it's an older flat screen it could have a bad inverter board.

Determine which board or boards could be problem?

Unfortunately, it's probably the power supply board. The fact that you can see the menu with a flashlight means the display itself is still functioning, which would be the most expensive part to replace.

Get a quote from a TV repair shop, should be able to quote without bringing it in. Check reviews on the repair shop.

Don't open it up yourself! There are hazardous voltages even when the TV is unplugged!

How to check if the backlights are working on a Samsung 46"

The easiest way to check for back light issues is to turn on the TV and get a good flashlight. Use the flashlight to look at the screen while it is on. If you see something on the screen with the flashlight and not by its own lighting then your back light has gone out. Most common causes are capacitors that have blown on the board and you're not getting any power to your back light. Having worked on monitors and TVs, this seems to be a common issue.

If the TV is out of warranty, take it to a local electronics store or TV repair shop.

Hope this helps.

How to do flash light test on Toshiba model 50l1350u?

Disconnect everything from the tv.
Turn on the tv in a darkened room, turn on the flashlight and inspect the screen closely with the flashlight for any snow or text from the menu screen. If you see anything, your T-Con board and Main Board are ok.

Could you help me get my gte warp 4g camera working? I downloaded a flashlight app and hit force quit on the app. Now my camera no longer works.

Also , with it on and on home screen take out the battery and the sim card , wait 15 minutes , reinstall the sim and battery and start the phone , then go to the settings>apps>camera and force close it and delete all data , restrict the bcground data and turn off all permissions , now the camera app is in new mode...
Exit settings and disable the Google photos built in app ,
Now try your camera...
Wish you could let me know if it is working !!! Hope it is !!!

Sony Vaio E Series VPCEH37FX screen goes dark, but fine otherwise

If you can see faint dim images on the screen, then your back light or power inverter has failed. They are not adjustable or repairable and must be replaced. If you can't see anything on the screen, the LCD has failed and must be replaced. Sometimes it's hard to see the dim images so use a flashlight to help determine if there is any image on the lcd.

Screen is black but i have sound

Sounds like you have a back light fault. Dim the lights in the room, turn the set on and shine a bright flashlight on the screen. If you see a faint picture, you have a back light fault. If you do not see anything, you have a video feed problem. Either way, I would suggest getting the set diagnosed to pinpoint the problem

Laptop gone blank whilst on internet will not come back on

Most laptops have a function switch to change between lcd / external monitor / both. If yours is equipped with one, try changing the setting.

If you power it off, on, does ANYTHING appear on the screen?

Last resort, if you take a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen can you see any of the desktop / window? If so, then what has happened is the back light has buned out.
