My phone memory is 20 M.B but it shows only 5 M.B???????

you must hard format your phone by rest to factory settings.... but before that you must transfer your data to memory card or in the computer.

Nokia uses Symbian OS on the phone which is loaded in the memory just like computers, you will never get complete memory for use as it reserves the space for you phone OS.
you buy SD card to extend memory on your phone. Your phone supports upto 16 GB

There are 20 memory locations to store numbers in, they are numbered 01 - 20. Press and hold the memory button until Memory Store shows in the display. Dial the 2 digit memory location or use the arrow keys to choose the memory location. Press the select/channel button which will show Store Name in the display if the memory location is empty or will show edit and delete options if the memory location has an entry in it. If the memory location is empty, use the number keys to enter a name for the memory location. Press the select/channel button which will show Store Number in the display. Enter the phone number using the dial pad. Press the select/channel button to save the entry. Press the memory button to end.

The phone mem is being occupied by system files. its a normal scenario. no need to worry sir.

You can go to setting and give RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS . Phone memory will be formatted.

hi all viewers `this is a good tip for your nokia 5310. well your phone is freezing cus you have to much memory on the phone the phone has a memory on its self witch is 20 mb. if you fill up like 15-20 mb it will slow your phone down or freezing completely. you can fix this by moving files to a memory card on the phone freeing up space i recommend you store 5-7 mb on phone memory. 100% success if not you have a problem

your phone is normal with any storage device they never show the real storage capacity it's always less some of the memory space is used for storing system and index information

Storing a Number in Memory
1. Make sure the phone is OFF (not in TALK mode).
2. Press the MEMORY button.
3. Press a number (0-9) to store the dialed number in that memory location.
4. Press the MEMORY button again.
5. Use the handset number keypad to enter the telephone number (up to 20 digits, including pauses) and press the MEMORY button again to save the number. The unit beeps to confirm.
6. To enter another number in a different memory location, return to step 1 and repeat the process.
