We went to turn our TV on and when it turns on the Philips logo usually appears before it turns on. It is frozen on the Philips logo screen. You can't turn it off. And it will not go to the TV. I'v tried turning it off manually on the TV and with the remote. I have also tried unplugging it and letting it sit then turning it back on but it just freezes on the Philips logo screen.

The standby power supply resistors on the inverter board have changed values. You will replace resistors R1217, (820K 1/4 watt), R1218,(820K 1/4 watt) and R1219 (390K 1/4 watt). Please use the values just mentioned. Or you may have the inverter board replaced. Take this note to a TV repair Tech. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

When turing on tv it stays frozen on philips logo. called and was told that I needed software update is this true. tv can only be tunred off by unplugging it remote or side power button will not work.

Yes, this is true. It is in need of a firmware update. Here's is where you can get the firmware update and the instructions on how to flash. Probably have to direct connect you pc via usb on the back, however I am not 100% sure. Hope this helps and don't forget to rate this high. http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=42PFL3704D/F7&scy=us&slg=en

How do i connect a playstation 3 to a philips tv

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a high-definition gaming console that supports both standard AV connections and high-resolution connections (such as HDMI). Most of the older Philips TVs come with a standard AV input. Newer, flat-panel Philips TVs include standard AV inputs and high-resolution inputs. To get the best video quality out of your PS3, using an HDMI connection is recommended if the option is available. The PS3 does not include an HDMI cable, only a standard AV cable

Standard AV
  • 1 Turn off the PS3.
  • 2 Connect the flat end of the PS3 AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.
  • 3 Connect the "red," "white" and "yellow" prongs on the opposite end of the PS3 AV cable into the corresponding "red," "white" and "yellow" AV inputs on the TV (usually located on the side or in the back).
  • 4 Press the "Source" button on the Philips TV remote.
  • 5 Select the "AV" video display mode.
  • 6 Turn on the PS3. The PS3 logo will appear on the screen.
  • HDMI Connection

When I turn on my Philips LCD TV, It just stays on the "philips" logo home screen...the picture never comes up. Also, I have tried to unplug it form the wall and I also removed the power supply cord from...

It is possible that the TV was hit by a small power surge, and the processor has some garbage in it, and you need to leave it unplug for 40 MIN, and that will reset back to normal. Make sure for at lease 40NIM,

Magnavox MPTV68A "Magnavox" emblem is displayed and won't disappear

I don't know the exact TV, but Magnavox usually have an item or two items in the menu system where the "Magnavox" and also the "blue screen of death" can be disabled. Look in your manual.
I'd suggest the reason it appears is temporary loss of signal from the antenna, set top box, cable system or whatever it is you receive your TV programming via. I don't have an answer as to why it occurs watching video, but turning off the logo and blue screen should help. If it still occurs, it's time for professional intervention!
