I notice F22 error message on washer. Door seems to be jammed and will not unlock

F22 is usually a door latch error on Kenmore washers so you are working on the right area. The door gasket rip should not cause that unless it is stopping the door from closing all the way. It is usually the door latch itself which has switches built into it that causes that error or the main board is not reading the latch operation.

unplug washer and let set 30 min. should reset. plug in, turn on then turn off a couple of times to see if doorlocks and unlocks properly. If not you may need a new switch. That F22 is door lock malfunction. You may need to check hinges and see if they are tight.

To unlock the door press RINSE HOLD to manually terminate the cycle. If this doesn't unlock then unplug the washer and try this 1-2 times.
Alternatively try holding the start button to check whether you are getting any error message. If there is no error message then you would need to replace the door latch or check the wiring to the door latch.
To manually unlock the panel first you'll have to Unplug the Washer from the power outlet. Now, remove the lower toe panel. Look for the bottom of the door latch assembly from inside the washer. Check for a tear-drop shaped tab and pull the tab until click is heard, door will now unlatch. Hope this helps... Please post back for further assistance.

F22 is door lock error. This is usually fixed replacing the door lock. Connection from door lock to CCU (control panel) may also be responsible.

"F22" is a door latch failure error code. At the beginning of the wash cycle the door will attempt to lock several times. If the latch fails to lock, the washer shuts down and the error code is displayed.
In some cases, the error code can also be displayed if the CCU goes bad. There is a door latch relay on the board that controls the door locking mechanism. The CCU is not serviceable and must be replaced if defective. In addition, make sure all the connector plugs between the CCU and door latch are connected and snug.

If the door is locked or jammed and will not open, you can first attempt to unlug the washer for at least 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes the door will become locked if the program gets interrupted during the wash cycle and may just be a momentray glitch. Often, simply using the manual release will reset the door latch and the washer will return to normal operation. If there is a problem with the door latch circuit, there will usually be an error code of "Fdl" or "F22" on the display (depending on model number).

f22 is a door lock error try this hit cancel turn your dial to another setting, hit start and once it starts hit cancel again and it should unlock. thats what i did anyway.
If you're getting an F22 error, you will want to check anything to do with the door latch switch.

TAKE 3 SCREWS OUT THAT HOLD THE BOTTOM FRONT PIECE REACH UP BEHIND AND ON THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM THERE IS A ROUND PLASTIC DOOHICKEY PULL IT DOWN ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH OR AS FAR AS YOU CAN AND IT WILL UNLOCK THE DOOR. I WOULD UNPLUG UNIT FIRST. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE F22 THING. MY JUNKER DOES THE SAME THING PERIODICALLY, I UNPLUG AND REPLUG IT TO CORRECT
