Burner working

What operating system do you have? The drive is fully supported by XP onwards and should be auto detected. You may have to delete the current driver in device manager reboot & Windows should install a compatible driver. (Start > right-click computer > properties > Device Manager > DVD Drives > Highlight faulty drive and delete > reboot)

Also, WinXP does not allow you to burn DVDs unless you have appropriate burning software installed (e.g. Nero)

My cd drive will read cds but wont read as a burner

Not all Inspirons have CD burners (the 4 factory options were CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, and DVD/CD-RW. You can confirm that via Windows Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and double click on DVD/CD-ROM drives to see what model drive you have, then just Google it to see what it's capable of.

In case you have either a CD-RW type drive or a DVD/ CD-RW drive and it doesn't want to burn CD's , then it's a bad drive.

I have a HT-DT-ST- RW/DVD GCC 4480B it will burn cd-r but it wont even read dvd-r I just want to burn dvd-r but it wont even read blank one

> CD-RW / DVD-ROM

Sorry, but this device is not a DVD-writer.

This device _should_ read (non-blank) DVD media.
If it does not, then the cheapest solution is to spend $40
to buy a new CD/DVD reader/writer.

Problem for Dell PowerEdge 2450 Server CD/DVD ROM

Hi,

Its doubtful that its the cables. Can you tell me what type of DVD/CD you have? For example SATA or IDE. Look at the picture below, these are hard drives but the connections on the optical drives are the same>>>>>

If the interface is IDE then check the jumper settings if they are both on the same cable.
Also check another CD/DVD in the drives.

Let me know how you get on.

Regards.

Need help instaling photo exploision deluxe 4.0 when i put the dvd in my driver.. it just says .. no **** in driver.. nothing happens!!! help !!

Do other CD work? If yes, you have a bad Photo Explosion CD.
If no, then you have a bad CD/DVD drive. You can get a new one for $30 if this is a desktop pc. If you have a laptop an external dvd drive would be the best option if you don't use the DVD drive very often.

Have NEC 3550A DVD/rw. re-installed windows XP professional & all else.. DVD will not recognize most dvd discs.Got drivers from NEC.. still problem

Go to:
1. start > run > devmgmt.msc
2. Under DVD/CD Rom drives make sure it's installed (Uninstalled = Yellow icon)
If all drivers are applied correctly this could be a problem with the DVD Region Settings.
Go to:
1. start > run > devmgmt.msc
2. expand
3. find the device
4. right click > properties
5. go to dvd region tab
6. select the desired region
Warning: some drives only allow you to change it up to 5 or 4 times so be careful!
