This is most commonly caused by the rubber belt being broken, as the belt powers the main pump.

Check the belt, (through the access door on the side of the machine,) and if it appears worn or stretched, (or is broken or absent,) replace it.

Otherwise it could be a problem with the pump, or could be soap clogging the main water lines. Try flushing the water lines out with warm water. A good way to see if this is the problem is to try using the hand tool. If the hand tool sprays water, the problem is most likely not the pump. If it doesn't, it is probably pump-related.

Bissell pro heat wont spray water

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Your Bissell ProHeat 25A3 may have stopped spraying water for several reasons. Make sure the bladder or water tank of your unit is filled with water properly and that the 2-in-1 tank has been placed properly.

If the water tank/bladder is filled and the 2-in-1 tank is placed properly, your unit's pump may have lost prime, to check this turn your unit's power off and hold spray trigger for 30 seconds. Turn the machine back on and check the spray flow.

Another thing that may not be allowing your unit to spray properly or spray at all is having a clogged solution filter and may need to be cleaned.

Last, your unit's pump belt may be broken. To replace, turn off your unit and unplug from any electrical outlet. Use a flat head screwdriver into the slot of the belt access door to release where you should have access to your unit's pump belt.

You can purchase direct your replacement belts from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

I have a bissel pro heat 2x and it wont spray

I love these and have 2 of them! The warrantees are usually good and it is your pump if both the hand held and carpet positions won't spray water. Both the soap tank and water resevoir need to have at the very least water in both for the unit to work. Yes... You can use just hot water for light cleaning in both. The pump controls both the spraying water and suction. Last, if one or the other won't spray, the unit can have residue blockage. The passages are narrow, check to see if they are clean. Last test. Turn it on, release the handle. At the base of the neck there will be an oval shaped opening. With the handle on the floor as if filling the unit with water...put either your hand or a paper plate over the hole to see if there is suction. If the pump is good, you will feel a lot of suction against your hand or the flat surface of the plate.

The automatic drain hose is hooked up to the back of the unit, but when the bucket is full, the automatic pump does not work. The automatic pump should come on and empty the bucket, but it does not come...

Any automatic pumps operate off a swith that is turned on when the water rises. They normally have some type of ball lift, that will raise the switch when water is high and then drops with the water and shuts the pumps off. It sounds like yours is stuck and not activating the pump.

Cleaner wont release or **** up water off the floor

There are a few different problems this could be. Usually when someone says it won't extract water off the floor it is because it is not squirting any water. If it is not doing either then you have more than one problem. You can try to pour some water from a cup onto the floor to see if it is extracting water from the carpet. water not squirting could be clogged jets. Look underneath at the red jets and make sure they're not covered with hair or dirt. You can remove and clean them. It could be the pump is not working properly. On some Bissel units the pump has a cogged belt that turns the brushroll. If sometihing gets caught in the brushroll it can strip the teeth off of the pulley on the end of the pump which means you have to buy a whole new pump. Another problem I occasionally see on this unit is the pump gets full of soap suds and will not pump water. Sometimes I can get it working agian by removing the lines and flushing out all the suds.

Replace pump

Six (6) on board/top screws approx. Two (2) in front near nozzle area and four (4) under water resevoir tank. Engage handle release and lie handle down on floor and take out screws and save (of course) You will need to also unscrew clear water cap from top of on board unit and save and make certain you retain process to put back into position..(cap/spinner/small screen /pin up) Now you have access to the pump/motor, drive belts, etc. Unscrew appropriate screws and detach water lines and note replacement points. from pump near front right area of unit. Good luck!

When I am cleaning carpet, the water spray works

I have a Proheat 2X and had the same problem. I don't know if this will work with your unit... but I tried the Water Rinse setting and found water came out and was suctioned properly, but on the Light Clean, Normal Clean, and Heavy Traffic settings, the unit failed to do anything. Problem may be with leaving the soap dispenser in-place, which might scum up the tubing.

SO, an alternative to throwing out my unit and buying something else was to put one capful of the Bissell soap in the water resevoir and keep the unit on Water Rinse. IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY NOW. Don't know if this will help, but at least I didn't have to buy a new unit. Rinse everything after using and there's been no problem.

The cleaner does not squirt out any cleaner or water. The machine runs but there is no moisture at all being dispenced.

these units have alot of pump failure problems. most likely the pump has gone bad. check the pump motor with a continuity tester if the pump motor is good disconnect the exit hose from the pump and see if it pumps any water

Bissell Proheat only sprays for a few seconds.

When was the last time you changed the flat belt? Even if it isn't broken it could be so stretched out that when the brush hits the floor it slows or stops the pump from spraying. If its a new belt then and your sure there arent any clog's that usually means the pump is bad. Also if youve ever used anything other than bissell shampoo in the machine it could have ruined the pump as well.

I just had my pump replaced for $66 and the repairman said this unit is notorious for this problem. He had 6 other units in his shop when we came in. Make sure you keep your clean water tank FULL, as he said the pump fails as soon as it runs dry.
