Sounds like the seal for the transmission is leaking oil through the seal. You will need to remove the tub or turn the machine upside down to remove the transmission and replace the seal. That is if the seal is still made.

Hi just read your posting.Now I am sure the only filters on your machine are the ones that in your inlet hoses for the water.Are you getting a lot of lint on your washing?Sorry to ask you this question but why do you need to clean the filter,Is it because of the lint build up?Please reply with additional information and if it is because of lint I will reply back with a method of removing it when I receive your posting.Looking forward to your reply.
Hi I've got a KFL1600 with error 6 too - I fixed this once by cleaning the filter, but now it's come up again and the filter is clean. Not sure if it's related but the door has stopped unlocking too and we have to open it by pulling the little tag in the filter door. Very reticent to get it repaired as everyone says that these machines are a nightmare and costly.
You can now order Kleenmaid service parts at www.edis.com.au. Login to their online shop with the user name "retail"and password as given on the login page. Search for the parts you are looking for.
