There could be a few possible causes for this issue with your Yamaha DX7 synthesizer. Here are a few things you can try:
Check the connections: Make sure all connections between the battery, the synth, and any external devices are secure and in good working condition.
Re-initialize the synth: You can try re-initializing the synth by pressing and holding the "Data Entry/Memory" button while turning on the power. This will reset the synth to its default settings and may fix any issues with the presets.
Check the synth's memory: If the synth's memory is full or damaged, this could cause problems with the presets. You can try clearing the memory by pressing and holding the "Data Entry/Memory" button while turning on the power, then selecting the "Erase Memory" option when prompted.
Check the synth's firmware: It's possible that the synth's firmware could be causing issues with the presets. You can try updating the firmware to see if that resolves the problem.
You have to format the USB stick using the Yamaha Clavinova. The reason is that the keyboards expects certain file/folder structures on the stick. If you format it on the computer, the computer will not know what files or directories to create for the Clavinova when it formats the stick.
The following are the advantages if you upgrade the firmware: New features; of V1.60 for Motif XS series 6,7,&8
-Normalize, Slice, and Remix have been added to the Sampling Edit display and Sampling Main display respectively, allowing you to more easily call up these displays.
-You can now increase the available memory of the DIMM by using the newly added Sampling Job.
-You can now convert a Sample Voice to a Mixing Voice.
-You can now edit a Drum Voice in the Mixing mode.
-TAP is now available in the Voice/Performance/Song/Pattern mode.
-Network function now supports Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 .
- From this new version, "meas" cannot be selected on the SAMPLE Record display in the Song or Pattern mode when the MIDI Sync is set to "MTC."
Does it say ERR NO FILE? If so, then read on. The reason you have this error is because you don't have a folder on your sd card named MUSICDAT. Solution:
Insert your sd card into computer
Make folder called MUSICDAT.
Then, transfer all files inside the folder (make sure your songs are in MIDI format).
Safely remove your sd card.
You're ready to put it in you Casio Keyboard!
If you still get the error, take time to read you manual. Read the "using the sd card" part. The folder name might be different for your Casio Keyboard (because mine's a CTK-5000).
...and IF you still get the error, perhaps the songs you meant in your question are MP3 songs (like the ones you play on the iPod)? Then, that's a different topic... :)
Well then, good luck!
If it says there is a RAM memory error, there is likely a bad module. If you installed these yourself, it is likely you have installed the wrong type or an incompatible configuration of the modules.
USUALLY the modules need to be identical in these synths. When upgrading, buy a complete set fot the unit and ones that are specifically guaranteed for it.
USB cords are cheap and can often be found even in Thrift stores... try a new one to eliminate that possibility... I will say they RARELY go bad unless they have been abused.
Remember that reading a USB stick by the computer is FAR different than transfering data from the Fostex...
MAKE SURE the driver for the Fostex in your computer is intact...
OFTEN the stupid DLL files that were working get CLOBBERED by new software and suddenly old things that used to work don't anymore... Thank MS for the stupid thing of allowing new software to change DLL's.
