my memory card door will not stay closed. ANd now i had it plugged into my computer and all of a sudden it went out of upload mode when the screen turns black, and the housing for the cable is loose a little. I think one of my kids dropped it. How can I fix both of these problems?

I found my used camera Hp 320 photosmart used on ebay for 10 bucks plus shipping, cheaper than the above door cover all together. Guess that will be my fix.

Carefully scrutinise the battery/memory card cover. In the camera is a switch that supposes to tell the camera if the door is locked correct or not. Perhaps something is blocking the correct working of that switch. Clean the inside of the battery / memory card holder and its door.
Open and close the door several times and hope he switch starts working as it should. I hope there is no spring broken or blocked.

Problem started with battery door

The door has an interlock on it. You probably broke the door. The door on some of these cameras can be replaced from the outside. You must make sure the interlock switch is not broken as well. The tabs on the housing of the camera can get bent or snapped off if enough force is used.
A broken door will be $75 there abouts, installed.
A broken detect switch, adds about $45 (A board).
A broken case may set you back an additional $75

Check the memory card or battery door for the tab that activates the cut out switch. It ,or the switch, may have sustained damage. I'm not 100% on this model but if it's like the S5700/ S5800 models then the memory card door has a tab for the cut out switch to prevent card removal whist powered up.

Won't turn turn on. A red and green light comes on, but nothing on the screen.

Step one: Reset the camera
  1. If you have an optional memory card installed, remove it.
NOTE: Although removing an optional memory card is not necessary for performing the reset, it eliminates the memory card as a possible cause of the problem.
  2. Remove all batteries from the camera for at least five seconds.
  3. Reinsert the batteries and close the Battery/Memory card door.
  4. After verifying that the camera works without an optional memory card, reinsert the card if you removed one in Step 2.
Try to turn the camera on. If it now works properly, the camera experienced a temporary electrical problem and should now work properly.

My camera is not turning on even when we put in new batteries.

There could be 3 problems:
  • broken memory card door switch
  • broken battery door switch
  • dead fuse
I have seen all of these on A510 and A520. If you have a multimeter, some experience and like to repair it yourself, I could help you. My e-mail is [email protected]
If not, you should give it to a local camera repair shop or Canon service center for a repair.

The door to lockdown my memory card is broken what do i do ?

I've done some searching and all I could find is a replacement memory card door at bbrepairshop.com. It's fairly pricy, especially after shipping and handling charges are added, but, like I said, it's all I could find.

Have put in a memory card, But camera keeps displaying memory card full

Try reformatting the card. Use your camera to do it, not a computer.

My vivitarN1659 will not reconize a1gb memory card and either states that the memory is full or that the memory is locked

There should be a tiny lever on the side of the memory card. Unlock the card by pushing the lever up. If it still says memory card is full, take out the battery and push the memory card further into the slot. It should not move while it is in the slot. If it "floats" when you close the battery door, it is not down far enough into the slot. Return the battery and close the door.
