I assume that it is Sony DCR-TRV250 camcorder. Go to camera menu and enable USB stream, like what Sony DV Direct says about change usb settings. You can download user manual by clicking Sony Support.
Download latest driver & software update for your Sony DCR-TRV250E handycam at Sony Support. Please check Hot News and Downloads on web page. Hope this will helpful to resolve no sound problem.

Please got to Menu of your camera and enable USB Stream function.
Install driver software from Sony camcorder cd provided with camera package.
If you are using Windows XP, drivers will be installed automatically and you will see recorded movie in PC.
