Fisher and paykel GW709au washing machine continuously fills with water until it overflows. Have tried both the auto and manual settings for filling but same thing happens. Occasionally the machine does stop filling and starts the washing cycle but will stop about 15 seconds later and continue filling again.

SOURCE: Starts to fill and then stops, and the cycle continues on.

Jmars, under the consol there is two pressure switches. One controls the fill and the other is back-up incase the other fails. It sounds like your water pressure switch is tripping too soon. Try putting the washer into a self test mode by pressing in this order soak--soil level---soak--soil level. The machine should enter a test mode. Let it run it's test and see if you come up with any error codes. The pressure switch is the one on the left under the consol. It will be marked OPR, the part number is 8054766. The consol will lift up by using a putty knife under each end, pushin on the clips and lifting up. The back panel of the consol is removable. Catriver..post back

SOURCE: washing machine overflows

sorry in advance for the lack of appropriate terminology. my "solution" comes from a mother with no mechanical experience point of view.

i had the same problem with my washing machine overflowing. I opened up my machine, found the clear hose that went from this little square box on the side of the tub up to the switch for the "load size" knob. i pulled the hose off the square box and saw that there was a piece of paper in it. i pulled it out, scraped the scum out and reconnected it. started the machine. - that didn't work.

so, I got the thinnest pipe cleaner i could find pulled the tube from the little box, and stuck the pipe clearner down the pipe of the little square box. pulled out a bit of scummy lint, then I blew in the tubing. I heard a "click", I thought.. okay maybe that's it. reconnected everything, started my machine.. and now it works :)

This probably wasn't the proper thing to do, but it worked and saved me from the cut throat washing machine mechanics in this area.

SOURCE: fisher & paykel fill up with water then

Yep it sounds like another electronics panel has failed.
We never had this much trouble in the old days with the old electric timer machines.

It may be a failed control board, but a few things to try first.

Fisher and paykel GW709 fill valve problem

the rods have nothing to do with the water level switch. I say check ur water switch with a meter. you may have defective coils, also check the water pressure switch

Help! My fisher paykel washing machine won't stop filling up!

If the water continues to fill even if unplugged the water valve is sticking and needs replaced. if removing power turns the water off the water level pressure switch is bad or there is something plugging the sensor tube somewhere.

F & P Smartdrive 708 has all lights showing when powering on, but will not start wash cycle. Have tried turning off at wall to re-set; taken lid off but still no go

take the motor shroud with the magnets in it off you will probably find corrosion on the terminals on the small circuit board clean it off, whilst you are at it check your pump is spinning freely if not pull it off and dismantle it clean the rotor it may have a rust buildup on it, when putting it back together give the bearing holder a few taps to centre the shaft before you tighten the screws completely, if it tightens up when you tighten the screws give it another couple of taps either side of the bearings until it frees up
