If so, if you have a US-based telephone, the long distance calling code for Nigeria is: 011

The country code for Nigeria is: 234

You will need to enter 011 234 before you enter the number for the person or business you need to call.

There isn't a "+" button you need to use. It's just a way that numbers often get written. If you're in the US, you dial international calls by dialling 011, then the country code and telephone number. This is the break down

011 = dial "out" of your country (indicating an international number)
234 = dial "into" Nigeria(this is Nigeria's internation dialling code)

SUMMARY
this means that the number could possibly from someone in Nigeria since Only Nigeria is assigned to the 234 code and the 011 seems like a nice way of hiding the :real location" since USA has a similar number or international code (01).
