Assuming that you have all the connections between the laptop and the projector already performed, you should check in you laptop's manual what is the key combination necessary to switch between normal mode and presentation mode.

For instance, some Dell laptops need you to press the function key (key marked with Fn in blue) and, while keeping it pressed, press also the F8 key (marked with CRT/LCD in blue) to cycle between the options.

Some HP laptops will need you to do the same operation, but now using the function key and the F4 key, to select between "Computer only", "Extended (dual) presentation mode" or "Projector only" modes.

If even with these indications you are still not able to make your laptop show its information through the projector, please send us more details on how you connected your laptop to the projector, as well as the brand and model of your laptop.

Hope this information can help you!

Make sure you try it using the RCA or the R232 port rather than the USB port. At least on some Viviteks the USB port is not used for input.
"The USB port is not in input port. This is used for service only. Please use another input port such as RGB input. Regards, Vivitek Customer Service"

Hope this helps.

My used DEL 2300 MP doesn't seem to be compatible with my Compaq PResario CQ60. It keeps searching for a signal? Any suggestions?

Decrease the screen resolution of your computer to the minimum possible value and check.
Probably the projector does not support the resolution of the laptop. With a lower resolution it might work.

Dear, i would like to know how and what cable i need to connect my laoptop to a home cinema 705 HD projector

Hello Jerrel43, Here is a quick overview: 1. You must first learn what port your laptop offers for video output. Your laptop could have one or several of the following: VGA (sometimes referred to as RGB), DVI, DisplayPort, S-Video, or HDMI. The following link offers pictures of each. http://hookpctotv.com/laptop-hd Keep in mind that DVI and HDMI offer the highest quality picture, so if your laptop has one of these, use them. 2. You must learn what port your projector offers for video input. After doing a quick search, it seems that your prjector offers VGA, S-Video, as well as HDMI. 3. Plug your projector into the computer with the port available on your laptop. Power on your projector and laptop. 4. Make sure your operating system is "outputting" (sending signal to) the video signal to the projector. This can be done in a few different ways (and varies according to which operating system your laptop is using). A) If you are using a Windows XP laptop, right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose the "properties" button. Click on the settings tab at the top right of the window that opens. Click on the blue box with the number 2 and then click the box below that says "extend my windows desktop to this monitor." At this point you should see and extension of your desktop background being shown by the projector. Just drag any window you would like off of the right side of your laptop monitor and it will show up on your projector.

Not with any RGB input options, computers are not compatible with these. The projector needs to be set up to receive VGA. There must be a toggle button or menu entry somewhere on your projector that lets you do this or why would it have a VGA input?
