Network printer setup

I have an Airport Extreme. I have a MacBook Pro. My wife has a Dell laptop. We have a Canon MP500 printer. All was well until about two weeks ago. Power went out. Took some Apple tech to walk me through reseting the Airport. But we haven't been able to get my wife's Dell to print on the Canon printer. It can't even seem to find it. What am I doing wrong?

When you reset a network machine often it will only print for the machine it was rest on, a quirky thing but there it is. Pcs are so temporamental. Just uninstall any traces on your wifes dell, reinstall and reset network settings. All should be well. cheers lilacgerry

Apple Macbook Pro does not connect to wireless network

The antennas in the Macbook Pros have had an issue with reception due to the aluminum housing of the laptop but, should still receive decent reception just not as much as a plastic Macbook or plastic PC laptop. It could be possible that the antenna's cables have become disconnected from the Airport Extreme card inside your Macbook Pro, that the card itself is faulty or damaged or that the Antennas themselves have been damaged in some way. As always make sure you have the latest updates and have installed any driver updates from Apple regarding your Airport Extreme card. Here's an article that may help eliminate any wireless interference that may be affecting your signal strength. Apple - Wireless Interference hope this helps, if so don't forget to comment, vote, etc. Thank you.

Printer not working from new router

First, I would suspect your PC has the printer installed using the IP address of the printer. I would uninstall the printer, then go to "add printer" then "add network printer" and see if this works. If not: HP has a neat setup available for their printers. Go to their website and look for network printer setup. This will install on your computer, and go through your network and find your printer.

Computer does not see the printer

I was told by HP that I could not use USB over a network. I Called Apple support and was hooked up through my Airport Extreme using USB. You want a better solution invest in a Mac. They have the know how and what they are doing. It's like comparing a Model T to a Cadillac when you tout PC's.

MX310 - Wireless network printer used on an Apple Airport Extreme

Here's what worked for me: I had everything set with my wireless network which included an Airport Extreme base station and two Airport Express units to extend range. I still couldn't plug and play with my printer. 1. You have to plug your printer into the Airport Express, turn it on, then select a document to print from your computer. 2. Select print from the pulldown menu (or select 'command P' on the keyboard). 3. When the print dialog window appears, go to the "Printer:" selection bar near the top of the window and select "print & fax preferences..." 4. This opens a new window, "print & fax." Near the bottom left of this window just below an icon list of your printers are a "+" button and a "-" button right next to each other. 5. Click "+". Yet another window opens which will reveal a list with your printer on it. 6. If you don't see your printer, click the "default" icon in the top left hand corner of the new window. 7. Select your printer, then click "add" on the bottom right hand corner of the window. The window will close automatically and return you to the "print & fax" window. 8. You should now see your printer in the list. You may say, "My printer was already in the list," but that's not good enough. The process you just went through enabled the computer to detect it on your network. You may want to use the "-" button to remove any previously listed printers from the list in the "print & fax" window. 9. Now you should be able to close the "print & fax" window and get some wireless printing done.

Could not connect to campus wifi through leopard

You may need to access the network with the ASCII password. Is there a system administrator you can contact to get this code? It will be a very long string of characters and replaces the typical password you seen in many Airport type setups.

Macbook Pro airport extreme

You should only use Windows xp for running a program that is not yet available from Apple. There shouldn't be much reason to link to the net while in Windows. Also while in Windows you are wide open to any viruses that exist. Try getting your work done without getting on the net, then go back to your Apple format. There you are 99% free of viruses. … Still need to link onto the net let me know I will ask at our Apple Computer Club on Monday

Can't print to mac wirelessly (could do it a few days ago)

I had the same problem until recently. You have to install the drivers FROM THE CD that came with the printer, instead of selecting the drivers from the default list. Then, when selecting which printer driver to use (you'll have two options) choose Canon IJ and NOT Canon MX310 series. This is a problem with their MX310 driver, which is solved using a default/generic Canon InkJet (hence, the IJ) driver. Hope this helps!
P.S. This only works on Mac OS X. I have yet to figure out how to print wirelessly through Vista. Will keep you posted.
