The rubber bumper at the base of the cylinder is damaged. Atro are no longer in business but some spares may be available through Stanley Bostitch, who bought over Atro some years ago.

Stanley stapler/nailer gun spits out more than one staple at a time

Sometimes a gun will double fire, quickly fires twice and is caused by worn trigger valve or safety foot. However, two staples driven with one shot indicates that the staples could be the wrong gauge for the gun or the driver is damaged. The driver of a nailer has a taper on one side of the blade to prevent the driver from hitting two staples. The taper will push the remaining staples back into the rails. Make sure that the taper is facing the staples and that the staples are correct for the gun.

My stanley tre500 shoots like a semi automatic weapon. Is it adjustable? Thanks Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Do you mean it rapid fires, or do you mean fires the staples to deep?
If it fires too deep, the adjustment for that is on the back of the gun. The + and - give more/less depth. Adjust it towards the - direction to get the brad/staple to no penetrate as far.

Thanks,

I have rebuilt my staple gun all new seals new piston and driver blade new bumper cushen when gun shoots the blade wont retract up all the way you have to open the staple mag. fire the gun then the blade...

Inside the cap, there's a plastic circular insert. It's a common mistake to reassemble the gun with this cap spacer upside down, resulting in the top of the cylinder not sealing in the air that returns the piston. Simply undo the cap, turn the spacer over and screw it back on again. Done.

Cannot load staples

At the back of the staple gun is a flat shaped metal piece. It's at the bottom. Push in, pull down, then pull the mechanism out. You'll see it's a metal rod with a spring, that is attached to that flat metal piece. The spring pushes against another flat metal piece, that has a hole in it, and travels back, and forth on the rod.

The flat metal piece that the spring pushes down the rod, pushes against the staples.

Remove this spring mechanism, slide the staples down the rails. The staples will be in the position of an upside down U. Replace the spring mechanism, and lock it back into place. (Push in, pull up)

Should, your question be in reference to the fact that you have staples loaded, but upon pressing the trigger nothing comes out:

In the front of the staple gun, is a flat metal piece that pushes down on the staples. One staple at a time. The flat metal piece is shoved down by spring pressure. The spring pressure is applied to the flat metal piece each time you squeeze the trigger. (Flat metal piece = Hammer)

Sometimes, Two staples try to come out. When they do, this flat metal hammer is stuck up in the gun. To free the flat metal hammer, remove the spring mechanism out of the back of the staple gun. (The spring mechanism discussed above) Remove any staples in the gun.
Try to use a flat blade screwdriver, and see if you can shove the flat metal hammer in the front of the gun -> UP.
(DO NOT have the staple gun pointing at your face! DO NOT squeeze the trigger! DO NOT use excessive force)

If this method is of no avail for you, you have to disassemble the gun, and remove the metal hammer, and stuck staple/s.

My T50M Staple strips break up in the gun and jam after 4-5 staples. This happens with old staples (10+ years) and with new staples that were purchased two days ago. Out of frustration I purchased a new...

The staples are held together with an epoxy. I have used staples that are older than 10 years. The problem is the gun. Check for dirt or a burk in the magazine as well as a bent pusher blade. My gun also had a problem loosing a screw and nut that attached at the blade guide.

The staples do not enter the wood completly

often when squeezing the tool the front gets lifted and the staple does not set fully. try making sure the front is tipped down fully and in contact wood when it fires. if that doesnt work the push rod is not working properly and is easier to replace than try to fix
