Non-Ferrous metal is non-magnetic metals (copper, aluminum, brass, lead, etc.) It will take approximately 50% more of a non-ferrous metal to be as detectable as a ferrous metal. Manganese is also a non-ferrous metal and difficult for most metal detectors to detect. Elenco Metal Detector With Beep Alert Review Detectorly

HOW DO I TURN ON THE AUTO MUTE ON A COBRA ESD 8285

When changing the Settings on your detector, please keep in mind: Each time the unit is turned On the factory settings of Highway and Auto Mute-On will be set. They can be changed while the unit is in use as described in the following sections.
Assistance Muting An Alert
Your detector allows you to quickly turn Off an audio Alert by momentarily pressing the Mute button. If you press the Mute button a second time during the Alert, the audio Alert will be turned back On.
Auto Mute Mode Auto Mute will automatically reduce the audio volume of all alerts after four (4) seconds for as long as the signal is detected. The factory setting for Auto Mute is On.
Highway/City Mode Setting your detector to City mode delays all X band audio alerts at lower signal strength levels. (A single beep will sound when the signal is first Notice detected.) This will reduce false alerts while you are driving in, or near, urban areas where there are many sources for conflicting X band signals such as microwave towers and automatic door openers. To change settings, follow the procedure listed below, which indicates what you will see and hear as you complete each step. The factory setting is Highway mode.
Highway Mode City Mode
Mute Button Press and release

City Button Press and release
Press and release the Mute button while no alert is occurring.

Need help

The display just shows you the different types of radar bands it is detecting. For example, the is an X band, a K band, a KA band and so forth. All it is, is a different frequency of radar being used.

What is pop and spector mean

POP is a type of radar mode which only a couple of radar guns have. In essence, radar gun in POP mode emits an extremely brief signal to measure a car's speed. This brief signal lasts for less than 1/5 of a second. POP mode can not legally be used to write speeding tickets since it is not as accurate as the radar gun's normal operating modes, and since POP mode provides absolutely no radar tracking history.

Most people turn off POP mode in their radar detector's options since POP radar is very rarely encountered and since users experience excessive false alerts with POP turned on.

Spectre refers to the Spectre radar detector detector (RDD) which police use to locate drivers who are using radar detectors. The current Spectre models in use by law enforcement are the Spectre III and IV models. Some Cobra radar detectors claim to be able to detect the Spectre I. This is of no value since all Spectre I RDDs have been upgraded to later Spectre models which Cobra radar detectors can not detect. In short, turn Spectre detection off since this feature is a needless source of false alerts.

Cobra XRS 9440 will not detect police radar. Does not alert when I drive by a police car. How can I fix this problem? Is there a way to change the settings so that I can be alerted when there is police...

Radar detectors are not police detectors. Radar detectors only alert to police when the police have their radar guns turned on. Most police officers operate their radar guns in "instant-on" mode rather than leaving their radar guns turned on continuously. Instant-on operation involves very briefly turning the radar gun on for up to a second or two in order to get a vehicle's speed.

Cobra radar detectors are known to have great difficulty detecting the 35.5 Ka band radar gun frequency. This should be considered a serious problem since 35.5 Ka is the second most popular Ka radar gun frequency following the most commonly encountered 34.7 Ka radar gun frequency. There isn't much that Cobra can do about this issue since their competitors hold all of the really good patented solutions for detecting 35.5 Ka police radar while ignoring false alerts caused on this frequency due to other radar detectors.

But to answer your question here is what the difference between the green light and the red light are:
1. X-Band Signal Indicator—A green LED lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of an X-band radar signal. The blink rate
increases as the radar source gets closer. A distinct audio alert is
also heard.
2. K-Band Indicator— An amber (orange) LED lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of a K-band radar. The blink rate increases as
the radar source gets closer. A distinct audio alert is also heard.
3. Ka-SuperWideband Signal Indicator— A yellow LED lights and
blinks to indicate the presence of a Ka-SuperWideband radar
signal. The blink rate increases as the radar source gets closer. A
distinct audio alert is also heard.
4. Laser Signal Indicator— A red LED under L lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of a laser signal. A distinct audio alert is also
heard.
5. SWS Signal Indicator— When an early warning hazard or
informational signal is detected, the yellow SWS LED begins to
blink and the amber K-band LED lights. A distinct audio alert is
also heard.
6. Power-On Indicator— A green LED under P lights to indicate
power is being supplied to the unit and the unit is turned on.
7. LED Signal Strength Meter—Four LEDs give an accurate visual
indication of the strength of radar or laser signals.
8. City Mode Indicator—A green LED under C lights to indicate
that you selected City Mode.
9. Auto Mute Indicator— A red LED under M lights to indicate that
you selected the Auto Mute feature.

I have a cobra radar dector esd 737 and i sdoesnt pick up cops tell they are like not even a half a mile ahead of you and tips or ideas how to get it to work better

Detecting of radar or lidar emissions depends on mounting of detector. In My experience it is best to mount it just above windscreen wipers. You must check if your detector is visible from license plate level. This is important for laser detection. For other measuring devices it's only important to be visible.Higher mounting facing downwards will reduce false X and K/Ka signals. It will reduce detecing of true as well, so it is all up to you.You must know that laser detecting only covers your car.It d'ont matter if a cop is 300m or 1800m away.X band has a large emission, and it is easily detected.K/Ka band is a pulse emitting and has a lot narrow detecting point. It is effective at max 800m.In ether case speed can be reduced 20-30 km/h in city, and 30-50 km/h on highway.

Question

rick12, Vg2 is a detector used by law enforcement to detect your detector.lol I hope thats not too confusing. Basically, what it does is sniff out your detector after it goes off. If your detector "smells" the VG2 searching, your unit shuts down so as to not put out a signal to alert it(vg2) Kind of like a stealth mode,,
