Your best bet is to play the recordings through the headphone connector
to a pc audio line-in connector and capture the audio using something
like Audacity. Then output them using audacity to mp3 to play on your
mp3 player.
These units are notorious for their failing USB feature.
maybe you can help me I have my files on the desktop but I cant open them and they have my lectures on it, i dont want to delete my recordings on the actual recorder without first knowing how to hear and save on my laptop.
You need to know what extension is on them such as .wav or .voc. If they are not .wav and Windows Media Player won't play the extension you have, then you might need to convert them using something like AVS audio converter - there were several converters on the web and some are free. This is assuming that you put your comment here because you had a similar problem as the originator. Even if you cannot download from the VR-5520 you should be able to use the software to play them. The software is available from the RCA website. RCA Digital Voice Manager.
