My Samsung RF265ABWP French door refrigerator has suddenly stopped making ice. I hear the old familiar noise it used to make just before I heard the ice drop in the bucket, only no ice drops. It sounds painful. My husband has checked the water line to the refrigerator and everything seems to be right, just no ice. Any suggestions?

Is it getting water? If not, Most likely water valve is faulty and not letting water through, or feed tube through back freezer wall to ice maker is frozen which would be caused by dripping valve. It's either the valve or the ice maker not sending voltage to valve.

Check my solution here. The noisy sound is the swing arm trying to knock out some stuck ice.

SOURCE: My icemaker in my large French door Samsung

There is no way to speed it up..
If the bucket is empty - 2 to 3 days to fill is normal..
It takes somewhere around 37 minuets for new cubes to freeze,, then dump.. Cant make the ice freeze faster..

If it has a inline filter on the water line - replace it.. If it is clogged it could slow the water that is going in..

If you-all use allot of ice and empty it before it catches up - I would suggest getting a bag of ice from the store and put some in the bucket to keep the ice level up..

Have a nice day...

SOURCE: The ice maker in my

Hello,

Take off the back panel in the freezer. 1/4" screws. Use a nut driver or ratchet and socket with an extension.
2. Behind the frost is the evaporator and the defrost heaters. One heater in the middle and one at the bottom. They are glass tubes. If you can see the bottom heater that is great. If not use a hair dryer and defrost only the very bottom to expose the lower heater only.
3. Now in the refrigerator section at the top where the controls are, take off the long plastic piece to expose the timer. The timer should be on the right hand side and have a little circle that is slotted. Get a flat screwdriver and turn that timer slowly clockwise just until it clicks and the refrigerator turns off. This will put it into defrost.
4. Now look at that heater that you exposed and see if it glows and gets hot. If it does, then the timer is bad.
5. If the heater doesn't come on then go ahead and defrost the rest of the evaporator with the hair dryer. This will take a little while. Don't poke at the evaporator!!!
6. Once totally defrosted look at both heaters. They should look like clear glass and see a silver coil running thru them. If they look discolored at all then the heaters are bad. The heaters come as a complete assembly with the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator.
7. If the heaters look ok the only way to know for sure if they are bad is to check continuity with a meter on the plug at the end of their wiring harness. If you can check that then you can splice in a new defrost thermostat to solve the problem. However the best thing to do is replace the heaters and defrost thermostat . It is easy to install.
Follow these steps and this will solve your problem.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Whirlpool

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

Often ice maker issues are a symptom of an automatic defrosting problem OR a leaking (dripping / bypassing) ice maker water valve.

First off you should try and prove that there are no un-necessary water leakages by doing the following:

1. Turn the icemaker OFF
2. Remove the plastic line where it connects to the thru the cabinet water tube by pinching the clamp and pulling down on the plastic tube.
3. Place end of the plastic tube into a bucket for about 12 hours. At the end of 12 hours check the bucket for ANY water. If there is a noticable amount of water (more than 1 oz) the water valve is leaking water by the valve diaphram seat. The only remedy for this is to change the units water valve assy.

As far as a possible automatic defrosting problem..... soft ice cream is a symptom along with that of low ice production.

The evaporator coils get a substantial amount of ice build up on them and then the airflow in the freezer compartment is restricted resulting in a change in the freezer comprtment temp. If you do have an automatic defrosting problem you will soon notice noise from the evaporator fan as the ice build up encroaches into the fan blade path. Additionally the fresh food compartment will warm up.

The ice maker will not cycle until it reaches 16 to 15 deg F. The ice maker harvest cycle is started when the ice maker thermostat closes and advances the ice maker module.

Do the water in the bucket test and then look for signs of ice build up on the evaporator coils.

If neither of the above manifest / present then download this manual and follow the troubleshooting procedures:

SOURCE: My Samsung RF265ABWP French door,

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post I understand you have a Samsung RF265 series fridge giving you some problems...specifically not making ice.

You mentioned you've run the icemaker through the built in test cycle/harvest, correct ? When you said it goes through it's motions, does this including filling the mold with water ?

Let me know as much as possible and we can move forward from there. If it doesn't fill through the "test" either, you likely require a water valve as shown below since they are dual valves for the water and ice-maker. Part #DA62-00914B

I'll watch for your reply and try to help in any manner I can. Thank you for coming to "FixYa" and good luck.

I have samsung french door refrigerator 2 door 2 drawer with vibrating a noise. I have removed the back panel and the noise does not seem to be cominng from this area. any suggestions.

We have a different model Samsung, and I've heard a vibrating or buzzing noise twice. First, if the water filter isn't an exact fit (even Samsung's filters rattle), it will rattle. Second, if either of the ice makers gets stuck or jammed, it can make a vibrating noise. If our freezer drawer isn't making a good seal, ice will build up under the drawer or in the slides. Ours makes more of a humming noise, when this happens. Other areas to check: something stuck in the runner of your drawers or shelves (if yours pull out). There are also vents that draw air in and out of the cooling unit, and things in front of them may vibrate or rattle, too.

Grrr noise that stops when doors are opened

The noise you are hearing is probably the fan blades hitting some ice build up. Un plug your refrigerator for over night and it will defrost melting the ice. If it still makes the noise after that then the fan motor is going bad, you will need to replace it soon. The reason that it stops when you open the door is because the power is cut off to the fan when you open the door.
