Error code 99 eos 400d? Camera won't work

Err 99 Some other fault.
There is something wrong, but the camera does not know what.
This number is for all errors the camera can't handle.
Try the normal "reset" method as follows:
Like a cold boot for a computer, the camera can be "rebooted"
follow the following steps:
Switch of the camera and remove the battery.
Remove the memory card and the lens. (if possible)
Recharge the battery. Wait till the indicator on the charger indicates the battery is fully charged.
Check all contacts, if they are clean and shiny. Contacts (from battery and memory card, only to be cleaned with a dry cloth or cotton swab(s).

Reinsert the battery, reinsert the memory card and re-attach the lens.
Then switch on the camera.
If this does not help, contact a certified Canon repair centre.

How can i charge the battery of Canon efs 18-55mm

The EF-S 18-55mm is a lens and doesn't have a battery.

I assume you're referring to the battery for the camera to which the lens is attached. Open the battery compartment, remove the battery pack, and insert the pack into the supplied charger. Plug the charger into a power outlet.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post and specify the model of the camera.

I have a Canon PowerShot A430 camera. When I turn it on, the lens doesn't open and it shuts off. The message on the screen says " Lens error, restart camera." Please advise. Thanks

Hi,

The Lens Error is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.
Performing a manual power reset
Turn off the camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
Reinsert the battery pack.
Turn on the camera.
You can reset the Camera back to factory default by performing the following steps:
Press the power button.
Press and hold the MENU button for more than 5 seconds. Default Settings will get displayed.
Use the arrow buttons to select OK and press the FUNC./SET button. This will reset all the settings back to factory deafult.
This should resolve the issue. If the issue persists, service may be required.

Canon 400D,Error 99 keeps coming up,have replaced battery pack,even recharged batteries,stillbeing told to"replced battery pack".Help...

Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could means several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....

Here's what you can try:

Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.

Have a good one!

DS-W370 lens the lens of the camera are out and i get a message to turn off the camera and try again but never worked

Hi,

The Turn off and on again error message displays when there is an internal malfunction or a malfunction with the Lens. The error message normally displays with the issue with the Lens. Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Try power resetting the Camera.
Turn off the Camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
Then, allow the Camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
Re-insert the battery pack and check if the Lens retracts.
You can also try resetting the Camera back to factory default. To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE option from the Main Settings Menu of the Camera to OK. (Menu-->Settings-->Main Settings-->Initialize-->OK.)

This should resolve the issue. If the issue persists, service may be required.

Canon SD1000 lens error

Turn off the Camera, remove the Battery pack, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Reinsert the Battery, then buzz around the lens for a few times then check if it works. Make sure that the Battery is fully charged.

The error message indicates that the lens is not able to adjust itself.

My camera says "read error" when trying to view pics

You might as well replace the camera, they do not fix these. If you send it in to Fuji you get an exchange camera from Fuji, the cost is fairly high
