My projector (optoma GT-7000) is not connecting to my laptop (Compaq 6720s).
It keeps displaying "no signal found"
I had this problem in the past and it corrected itself
I've tried Ctrl Fn to no avail

You would normally connect external speakers to a laptop using the laptop's headphone port. The cable coming from the speakers would normally have a green connector on the end and would plug directly in.
If you have a bigger, more complex speaker system then you would need to determine what connections are possible to the speakers and what outputs are provided on your laptop. The most common audio out ports (for PC's, not so much laptops) are SP-DIF Coaxial and Optical. These would provide full digital surround sound signals from your computer but are not found commonly on laptops.
My best guess would be the above green connector to headphone port setup. The rest is a bit optimistic for an everyday laptop.
The replacement panels for the Compaq 6720s range between $85.00 USD and $110.00 USD depending on where you order them from. The replacement is a relatively easy procedure, but I don't recommend it for a first-time novice do-it-yourselfer.
Here are links to some places where you can order the display panel:

Now the good news is you can still use your laptop if you have an external monitor. You can use the appropriate "Fn" key combination to switch your display output to the external device. I believe for the Compaq 6720 is the "Fn" key & the "F4" key. Connect the external monitor then power on your machine, Press the Fn and F4 key simultaneously until you get the display showing on the external device.
One more thing, you will need to go set the laptop to not do anything when the lid is closed. You can do this via Start -> Control Panel -> Power Settings. Change the custom power settings for both "A/C" Power and "Battery Power" to "do nothing" when the lid is closed. By doing so, you can close the laptop lid without shutting off the computer. Of course you will need to add an external mouse and keyboard to continue using the computer, but by following these instructions, you can basically use the laptop, even with a damaged screen, pretty much the same way you would use a desktop. The portability is lost, but the function is retained until you can have a new display panel installed.

You need to check your keyboard setting layout , look for it in your control panel and change the layout to either uk or us, which ever applies to you.
Hi there...well, you've done some useful troubleshooting on your own! Sometimes, different equipment gets "finicky" about syncing properly. Most of the time, turning on the projector first and then immediately turning on the laptop will work. You didn't say what type of "pc" you were connecting. Are they both laptops or a desktop, etc.? Try this, using ONLY the monitor cable that you know works, connect the pc that doesn't display. Lets try to eliminate variables that'll drive you crazy! Assumption here: if you are using 2 laptops, make sure that the one that doesn't display is set properly(i.e. usually an "alt F4 or some such key combo) to display to an external source. The function key will have a small TV screen symbol on it. Remember, "normal mode" is *laptop only* for the display. Next is "laptop + external display", and finally "external display" only. If you press the combination again, you'll return to the "laptop only" mode.
Referencing a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop and a Optoma DLP Projector ExPro 730. Hook up all of the necessary ables and such. Turn both the Laptop and the Projector on. Once the Laptop is booted up, go to the Control Panel and double click on the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver Icon and then click on the Multiple Display and then click on APPLY! Thats it ......... and it works like a charm.
