LG Flatron L1710S 17" LCD Monitor Logo
Posted on Mar 08, 2011

My flatron L1710S flat screen will not come out of power saving mode. When I turn on the monitor the power button/light is green for a few seconds, the screen indicated "power saving mode", then the screen goes black and the power button/light goes yellow and stays yellow. Screen remain black. I've unplugged the monitor from power source and from the back of cmptr tower. Still doesn't work.

I switch on my PC, ensuring that all cables, leads and power supplies are connected properly. The tower powers up no problems at all. I switch the screen on, the green led lights up, the screen is completely black. A blue box appears centrally on the screen with the text 'power saving mode'. The green led light turns amber and then the screen just goes black.

Please don't suggest going to control panel, as I can't get that far.

PLEASE PLEASE CAN ANYONE SUGGEST ANYTHING give me

Make sure the connection between the computer and the back of the monitor is good... mine sometimes slips out on the back of the monitor and does that too.

Sometimes an old driver for this monitor will mistakenly believe it can display a higher resolution - and so it goes out of range when things autorun.

Step one - if you can, connect to another monitor, or your tv, with both old and new hardware installed and simply download and install the new driver.

If that doesn't work, boot into safe mode (it naturally sets a lower resolution).

And when all else fails.... Best trick I've found is to clear your CMOS (reset your BIOS) and, oddly, plug in a different keyboard to a different port and hold delete when you boot. If you need to repeat, change keyboards again. (make sure you hold the delete key down before you even plug the computer back in and it should work fine.) Also, for those unfamiliar with resetting their BIOS, write down your settings first, or ask a friend.

G'luck! Took me some research but I eventually made mine behave. :)

I switch on my PC, ensuring that all cables, leads and power supplies are connected properly. The tower powers up no problems at all. I switch the screen on, the green led lights up, the screen is...

First of all check your VGA cable is working or not.

If VGA cable is ok than do the following steps.
  1. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer.
  2. Disconnect the computer's power cord from the AC power source (wall outlet or power adapter).
  3. Remove the computer cover.
  4. Locate the battery on the board (see figure below).
  5. With a medium flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry the battery free from its connector. Note the orientation of the "+" and "-" on the battery.
  6. Wait for 1 to 5min then re-place the battery back again.
  7. Re-place the computer cover.
  8. Plug the computer and all devices back in.

Second step you can do is
1) Remove the RAM from the RAM bank clean it properly and insert it back again.

If still you are facing the same problem ... you can Remove the CPU fan and put some cooling paste on top of CPU and re-place the FAN back.

LCD Flatron 21inch going into power save mode problem

this is not a problem with the monitor, it looks as your computer is not sending any video signals to the monitor thus it goes into saving mode. Take a look at the computer, check the video card. Pull it out then turn it on, turn it off again and place the video card where it should go then turn the PC on again. This should clue the OS to re-configure the video driver. Did you try another monitor ?

Lg flatron blank screen

t certainly seems like the monitor is not getting a signal. Did this happen after you changed something, or just on normal boot up?
It could be the video card that has failed.
Also, check the pins on the connector; sometimes they can get pushed in.
If you can, try swapping out the video card or use the monitor on another computer.
Good luck,

LG Flatron L1710S Monitor stuck in Power Save Mode

Try wiggling the Cord on the backside of the monitor.. Not the Power Plug Cord, The Other Cord that attaches to the PC. Do this once the monitor turns off , grab ahold of the cord about 2 inches from the back of the monitor, then bend the cord to the right, keep bending from the right to the left a couple times to see if your screen comes back, if it does, than you have a Loose connection and this sometimes causes the Symptoms you are receiving.. Hope it helps.
