Freezer cold, refrigerator warm

The sensor, or wire, that melts the ice, is not working. An indication of this, would be water inside the food area, on the bottom. Sometimes just replacing/alligning the wire, that protrudes into the melt hole, works....

Water Leaking from Freezer Side of Refrigerator

Got a couple of questions before we can really say much Does the refrigerator/freezer appear to be running as normal? is it perhaps always running at the time the water leaks for longer or more noisily than normal. Is the temperature of the freezer as normal? is there a particularly cold patch in the refrigerator , probably at the back or on the freezer side near the bottom? Where exactly is the water leaking from? and is there water collecting inside? Does the door seal properly at the base where the water seems to be coming from? Is there another major appliance with a heavy current draw that always goes on at the same sort of time? I'm thinking a water boiler, or aircon/heater, or the oven etc. Please post back, and we can start running through possible solutions :)

I have a zanussi ZI 920/9K and the fridge has water under the salad drawer every day but the drain hole is not blocked - what else might it be?

two solutions
1...a door seal leak
2...you are puting food in that is warm or not covered and its the condensation from these that collects on the shinny surface of the salad drawer.....
remember, every time you open the door warm air from the kitchen replaces the cold air inside the fridge,it does not dry the air like a dehumidifier....
hence water droplets gather.....

My GE refrigerator is leaking cold air at the wires coming out from the back of the refrigerator. The frame around this hole is cold. Is there a leak inside the refrigerator? What can I do to fix this...

refrigerant could leak inside the unit, it could smell bad if the compressor had a burnout
refrigerant carries oil troughout the system and back to the compressor
if the compressor had a burnout, the oil would turn acidic creating an odor if there is a leak

personally I would check what's inside, open a box of baking soda and see if this eliminates the odor

if your fridge quits cooling, you've got a leak

Water leaks from top mounted freezer area into the refrigerator

Remove the food from the freezer and the icemaker if equiped . Remove the air tower at the rear of the freezer section and remove the rear panel inside the freezer . Using a hair dryer to the drip pan , below the coils ( probably ice ) , starting at the center , defrost until you see the drain hole . Keep defrosting the hole ( hot water helps ) until water starts to flow down . Using a short piece of hose , insert it into the drain hole and blow . This should blow out any debris inside the drain hole . I would use a short piece of solid ALUMINUM wire ( 14-16 guage about 8 " long ) striped of all insulation , and insert it into the hole as far as possible , without any force . Wrap the other end about 1--1 1/2 turns around the black tube ( defrost heater ) above the hole . When the heater comes on , heat will transfer to the aluminum wire and keep the drain from freezing up again . Reasemble back panel , air tower , and , icemaker . Reinstall the food and its FIXYA'd .

My refrigerator keeps leaking water. Need help.

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. All items in freezer were defrosted when I opened the door this morning. Fridge is semi cold.

Hi

Some leaking water refrigerator helps....

  1. My older style Amana freezer on top refrigerator is leaking inside
  2. My refrigerator is leaking water inside
  3. My refrigerator is leaking water onto the floor
My refrigerator is leaking water inside the fridge:

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now ( Whirlpool makes many of the Kenmore branded refrigerators ) on there top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Leaks water inside, under the veg bins. I am sponging it out daily. Sometimes leaks onto the middle shelf and will freeze up a nice puddle.

there is a tube on some of these model that goes through the back of the fridge and onto the bottom. It is usually up high (if not under the crisper s). If its close to the freezer compartment may have Ice blocking it. If its up high and behind a ceiling cover it could have dirt and gunk stopping it up. try a soda straw and push it in the open part of the hole. see if you get anything out. You say it freezes on the shelf in the fridge compartment (Im betting on Ice blocking the hole because this is way too cold for a refrigerator with veggies. Right?)

Warm water set inside fro a few minutes to hours with the door open or a hair dryer running in it for a few minutes may defrost it and solve the problem then it may come back if there is too much air from the freezer or the thermostat is keeping it running too long.

Hope this helps and if so please rate me accordingly and good luck
