My dishwater had water in the bottom and now it won't start

I noticed tonight as I was loading it that there was water at the bottom of the dishwasher. I also noticed that the dail was in the middle of the cycle. I removed the water and tried to start the dishwasher, but it didn't turn on and the door doesn't seam to be locking.
What can i check before I call a repair man.

Depending on the brand this answer may notr work. I know on the Asko there is a float valve on the bottom tray. If you tip your machine backwards you may be able to drain this water away. This helped. Good luck.

First check your circuit breaker to make sure it didn't trip, if that is good, turn it off and take the 2 mounting screws usually at top of the dishwasher going into the counter top and slide it out. Then check the connection where the line comes in and connects to the power on the dishwasher, they are usually connected with wire nuts. Make sure connection is good.

SOURCE: Dishwasher fills with water... wont wash

usually if the motor is not kicking in then it is a blocked/seized wash motor or a broken wire somewhere from the timer to the motor. either will mean a stripdown. try checking out the motor first.

SOURCE: Dishwasher is noisey when the pump is starts to pump water around

yes somthing /pice of somthing has gotten into the works;usually its a chunk of glass or small pice of plastic.no eazy way to fix.youl have to drain and go from the top down.[removing wash impeller pump cover and keep going down each time taking parts off and looking for some small hard somthing.im afraid youl end up going all the way down to the chopper/food grinder.leave the screws in the parts you take off so wont get mixed up.take your time.ive done it hundreds off times i know you can pull it off ,once.you can do it.ps you can let it run like that thru some loads to see if will grind up or clean its self out.knowing what i know i would have no problem trying that on my dish washer.and have done it a few times.hope that helps God bless, tom

SOURCE: Jenn-air Dishwasher won't drain water from base

This happened to me after installation. they had installed a one way valve backwards in the drain line and had to reverse it.

SOURCE: Water in bottom of dishwasher

The emptying valve is probably partially blocked with a piece of debris or bone. It can be cleared manually usually if you can get at it with a pair of needle nose pliers or tweezers.

SOURCE: leaking

this is a huge problem for you. when you have a leak coming from the bottom of the dishwasher the machine will have to come out. but first check the door gasket to make sure the leak is not coming from there.

Dishwater goes from sink to bottom of dishwater

you need to tie up the drain hose under the sink above where it connects to the drain spigot to stop the sink water flowing down into dishwasher instead of the drain. A blockage in the sink drainage can also make the condition worse.

Sink dishwater intrusion

Hello- Find drain hose from dishwasher under sink. Should have gooseneck ~ in hose run to keep water from getting back into dwshr. Does full sink drained all at once push water into tub? Sometimes stuff not disposalled yet blocks drainage. Older motors can tend to become weak with age, not pumping as much water out of tub as it used to.Anyway- Hope this helps- ED

Water keeps filling even if dishwater is off or if the door is open, the only way to stop it is from turning tap valve off below the sink.

Your dishwasher water fill valve is defective. Remove power from the DW. Remove the bottom toe kick panel. The water valve has the incoming water line connected to it.Remove the wires from the valve. If the water stops entering you have a bad timer. If it makes no difference you have a bad valve. The valve is a replaceable part. The timer is a replaceable part.

I would check to make sure the connectors to that door lock are all connected. If they are it's probably the lock/switch mechanism itself. Wow I just checked and they are about $120. The p/n is wh10x10006 You can google around for the best price. Good luck!
