I had this happen with H2O wireless. I had selected "add data" on their website and it changed my account, effectively de-activating me from the network. uhh. call consumer service or pay your bill :)
The same thing happened to me. I called at&t and the guy I talked to was honestly no help. I decided to add more money just to see if it would make any difference; as soon as I did, my phone started working. I'm not sure if the same would work for you, but it's definitely worth a try!
