How do you clean the printer head on the epsom sx200 printer?

Check your update settings in the printer software. Turn off any automatic updates from Epson. To get updates, put some old Epson cartridges, good or bad, in while you update. Epson will log on to your printer and kill your non-Epson cartridges during auto updates.

If you have Genuine Epson cartridges and they do not work, call Epson Tech Support. You have to be patient [they're in India] and you may have to ask to speak to someone in the US if you're getting nowhere with TS.

I assume it is an Ink Jet printer. You should have a printer menu on your pc that has a cleaning function. If you don't have one then take the CD that came with your printer and re-install the software and look for the directions on cleaning the printer jets.

Do a head cleaning, after that run a nozzle check. If there are gaps repeat head cleaning up to 3 times. If problem persist run a print head alignment.

1) try to start cleaning heads 5 times
2) try new cartridges

umm... this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart frombuying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to preventthe coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are notused for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epsonrecommends printingat least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing inblack only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Wheneverthe printeris turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inksget used over time even though they are not used for printing.

press 'Control' + 'P' on a page (as tho you want to print)
click 'Maintenance'
there you'll find various options to clean heads etc, that should do it. tho it does deplete your inks considerably each attempt. & you'll probably find it needs more than one clean.Good luck!
