Can not open file with .gom extension

You need to have a GOM player installed in your computer to play files with ".gom" extension.

Please get the GOM player for free via the link below :

http://www.gomlab.com/eng/

Open/extract the file after downloading and follow the installation prompts until it's complete. I recommend to restart your PC after the installation process.

Enjoy and Thanks for using FixYa.

Every time i open the GOM player it would ask for "FIND codec"

GOM Player includes many codecs (XviD, DivX, FLV1, AC3, OGG, MP4, H263) Along with different media format such as AVI, MPG, MPEG and DAT, GOM Player also supports streaming Windows media format (WMV, ASF, ASX).

Possible Reason:

* Ensure that you have downloaded a genuine version and not a broken file, which is likely to miss some codecs, GOM is a FREE media player with popular audio & video codecs built-in. So you won't need to install separate codecs for most videos. For those videos that require a separate codec, GOM Player will find one.

* Without the appropriate codec, you'll be prohibited from playing AV files/the codec for which the file you are playing is missing (playback error), which prompts you to "Find Codec" screen. In the case you need other codecs, the 'Find Codec' popup will assist you in searching for the correct codec to play your file. If you didn't find any: first reason is likely to be the issue.

Fixes:

*Search Result will be shown on a new internet page. Once youve found it, simply download and install to watch the AV files.

GOM Player can't play (.avi) file/

Hi teddy, maybe the file you are playing is not a real avi file. Try to Open "My Computer">Tools>Folder Options, then look for "Hide extensions for known file types" and uncheck it. Then look back at your file again if it's still has an avi extension. Another reason is that, maybe the file is not a real movie or video files.

You can download the latest GOM player at:
http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html

Maybe it could help you reinstall the player then try to play it. If still the same, the problem is not the player it's in your file.

HOW TO OPEN FILES WITH THM EXTENSION

THM is a video thumbnail. Chances are pretty good that there is another file on the storage media (memory card?) that you can actually view. Check for an AVI or MPG file as well.

Otherwise, the THM SHOULD be viewable in any standard video player. I highly recommend GOM player.
